Thanks for the honest feedback! Very glad to hear that your D likes it. None of the “cons” sound too bad. If my son does get in (fingers anxiously crossed), he will likely play on the Nova club ice hockey team, which should give him a solid social base from the start. Should know by Friday or Saturday at the latest. Thanks again for the response!
In case anyone in the thread is interested, the Villanova Admissions IG account posted earlier today that ED II decisions will be available in the Application Status Portal at 4:00 tomorrow, February 14th. Best of luck to anyone awaiting a decision!
Did Villanova post today ED 2 decisions?
Yes, at 4pm.
Does anyone know when finalists for the presidential scholarship will be selected/notified? Someone told me it is in February, but I am not sure
Very excited to say that our son was accepted to the VSB! Really appreciate the helpful feedback. Do you recall how the dorm selection process works and how soon it starts? Also, we’ve seen IG posts from accepted students looking for a roommate–do you know whether you can connect with someone ahead of time and request to be roommates? Thanks!!
We attended the Villanova Early Action Admitted Students weekend on Friday and Saturday with D25. Here are some thoughts:
- Beautiful campus with a mix of new and older buildings, open spaces, and coffee shops in almost every large building. There is a busy road running through the middle of the campus, which D didn’t care for.
- We met some great students during our visit - they were friendly, smart, active and fun to visit with. All spoke to the sense of “community” on campus, and the more we heard this, the more we believed it was authentic. D felt that the community would be a great fit for her.
- We are from the Midwest and didn’t realize how regional Villanova was. Most of the students we met were from PA, NJ, NY, and MA. We didn’t meet one student from west of PA.
- Attended a study abroad presentation (great) and a health professions (pre-med) presentation (so-so). We wanted to learn more about some of the academic departments and clubs but ran out of time.
- Overall, D liked it, but didn’t love it, and will wait to hear back from other schools in March before making a decision.
I did undergrad at Villanova studying chemistry and had no problem getting into med school and becoming a surgical specialist.
@vep23 re: housing selection for incoming freshman… those who were accepted ED1 get preference. They get to register for housing early…last year it was April 2nd. Those who were admitted EA, ED2 and RD register later in April. You will get an email from residence life. You can also look at the Res Life page and it has this info there but I think they haven’t updated the dates yet for 2025. Registering as early as possible for housing helps but only ED1 has a chance at Good Counsel Dorm (unless you find a roomate who is ED1). You can pick roommates in May…you will also get an email on this. A lot of people find roommates on IG or you can go random. Most freshmen want to be on South Campus and all the dorms are pretty much equally bad although Good Counsel is very slightly better because the rooms are slightly larger and they have private sinks. But really they are all bad and all similar. Stanford dorm is the biggest and some people love it or hate it. Congrats to your son!
Thanks for this helpful insight!!
The invitation was out yesterday.
Has anyone who got in EA for engineering received an honors college invite?
My D25 got in EA for Engineering and received the honors college invite on 1/30.
