Virginia Tech Post-Offer Decision Making and if Accept What Next? 2020

@ShenVal18 Thank you so much for the information and links. It’s very helpful!!

Here is the list of Blacksburg merchants that accept the debit function of the Hokie Passport (Hokie P). I like to keep a $200 balance on my son’s card especially as a freshman (use for laundry and vending machines in dorm and the on-campus convenience store - Dietrick).

Does anybody know anything about the Theatre Arts program? My D was accepted but knows practically nothing about the program. Her only interaction with the department was for a scholarship.

2019 stats - 45 applied, 25 offered, 7 enrolled. Since 2010 the largest cohort was 17 students and 7 has been the fewest.

@ShenVal18 Thank you so much!

@ShenVal18 My daughter granted me access to financial aid and billing and other things, but I try to log on with my guest info on hokie spa and I’m gettting errors saying invalid username and password. Does it take time for my guest login info to be activated? She checked all the boxes to grant me access to everything and I can’t figure out how to access anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If I remember correctly I got an email asking me to setup a guest ID after my son setup access

I heard that the Virtual Tour is going to go out around April 4th. Sounds like they have a lot they are working on for those who have not had the privilage of being on campus at VT.

Included will be campus tours, lives sessions with academic advisors for different majors, and Q&A with current students.

In the meantime - there are a good number of VT tour type videos on Youtube.

Emails are supposed to be coming out to accepted students in a few days.

@cbl1 Yes I got that email and I set my guest ID and password, but it’s not working when I try to log in on hokiespa. The whole thing is confusing. I just want to accept the fianancial aid but can’t get myself anywhere to accept it.

@cbl1 thank you! You’ve been very helpful with this process! Looking forward to seeing the virtual tour!

I don’t think you login via Hokie SPA but I’m not certain. I think you login via https://www.hokiepassport.vt.edu/

Actually looks like I’m wrong and you should be able to login Hokie SPA.

When I do currently I get an error message - there must be something wrong right now with guest access.

@cbl1 Thanks for the hokie passport link. That helped a lot. I assume my daughter would have to accept/decline the financial aid herself through Hokie Spa? I was able say what I wanted to decline/accept but there was no button to submit and lock in my choice.

Yes, I thought we were able to access Hokie Spa with our guest access, since I created an ID and password and I get that same error message. Yes, maybe there is something wrong with it right now. It can all wait. Was just curious why I kept getting error messages and see if I was just missing something. Thanks for your help!

@joporuss I just accessed with no error message via the link below:

www.guest.banner.vt.edu

That link is at the bottom of this page:

https://www.registrar.vt.edu/Guest-Access.html

Thanks @ShenVal18 - the link from that page works for me. Strange the logins look identical but the are not.

http://www.guest.banner.vt.edu/ is the correct place to login for guest access

It also direct links to Hokie Passport so you can do all from the one login here.

Last semester there was a similar issue - they migrated to an updated version on the internal side and the link that was posted on one of the public side webpages was pointing to an obsolete destination. The hokiep link might now be pointing incorrectly. 4Help ran it down and fixed it last fall when I told them I couldn’t login.

Just watched the Hokie Focus virtual tour, and I thought they did a very nice job with it!

It came out already? Do you have link? I checked my daughters email and didn’t get anything (of course she already accepted).

Thanks - where did everyone get that?
