GitHub has floorplans for all of the dorms that were available as of 2006. Some of the uses noted on the plans have shifted (Pritchard’s lounge configuration is different now), but the majority of the room info is pretty accurate. You can see location of specific room numbers as well as approximate size in relation to other rooms. There are definitely certain rooms that are larger than the average dimensions that housing lists. Son and roommate did that research and landed a 13x13.5 room.
So our D has spent many hours online researching her list of colleges she has offers from (8 in all) and narrowed to her final 2 - VT and Purdue for Engineering. In a separate thread I shared her final rationale but she has chosen VT and is super excited to become a Hokie (ordered a ton of VT gear!)
She has now applied for Hypatia LLC for Women in Engineering and is waiting to hear back. Really hope start of the year is not impacted by COVID-19 but we will see.
I was wondering if there is any way to decline an LLC after accepting the offer. I did not think my decision thoroughly and accepted the LLC offer on impulse. However, after further thought, I realized that I don’t want to be part of the LLC.
I was able to leave the LLC. How does regular housing work? Do we get to pick the hall that we are in based on space, and time of selection based on the signing date of the housing contract, or are we assingned randomly to any hall? Also, what halls have the most freshman?
@broseff As mentioned above, most halls are freshmen. Those that would have a larger than normal % of upperclassmen would be West AJ and Lee, both of which are heavy with LLC’s that either offer or require a 2 year commitment.
South Carolina let the cat out of the bag yesterday on a FB live that they will be doing the same thing. I think most large schools will have to go this route if they want any hope of opening in the fall. Imagine if they had live orientations and someone by chance got infected. Might ruin it for them
Has anybody on this thread applied for the Galipatia (Hypatia/Galileo) LLP? If so, how long did it take to get a response? My son is hoping to hear in time for his May 1st decision.
