Visiting Stony Brook

First, the tour. Yes, it includes the residence halls, as well as all the major student spaces on campus. If you have specific questions about anything else you’re looking to see, PM me and I’ll let you know.

As far as hotels, the closest would be the Holiday Inn Express Stony Brook. The link is on my site, which you can reach through my profile page. (Or you can go to the main Holiday Inn site.) The Stony Brook rate is either $99 or $129, I don’t remember which. (I think it went up this year.) They have a shuttle to campus.

Ronkonkoma to Stony Brook isn’t a direct line; you’d actually have to go west all the way to Hicksville, then come all the way back out to Stony Brook. It’d take way too long; much easier to drive, or take a cab, or something like that. The LIRR map is here (http://www.mta.info/lirr/html/lirrmap.htm</a>) – it’s really designed for transit in and out of NYC, not north-south travel on LI.

You could take a bus (www.sct-bus.org); depending on where you are in Ronkonkoma, you could take one of the lines to the Smith Haven Mall, then take the S69 to campus. Might be a little tedious, and I haven’t taken the bus so I don’t know about how often they run, but it’s an option.

If you have specific questions about anything, PM me. Let me know when you’re coming and we’ll set you up.
