^^^They do know and they are not stupid but that doesn’t mean they won’t do it. Kids are messy. You do the best you can. You hope that you are launching young adults that will make good choices which also includes surrounding themselves with good friends who can help them when they screw up.
My daughter was both the giver and the receiver of care her freshman year of college. Almost exclusively a giver but the one moment she “received” involved an ambulance. So buckle up.
Very fortunately surrounded by a lovely friend that made a call to us and stayed with her all night in the hospital. It can happen to anyone and in any program.
