Wait-listed... now what?

“Thank you for your application to Case Western Reserve University. Interest in the university continues to grow, and this year we received a record number of applications for undergraduate admission, many from academically promising students like yourself. With a substantial increase in applications, and because Case Western Reserve is a residential university where we guarantee housing for all first-year students, we have been forced to be conservative in the number of acceptances we initially offer. The Admission Committee hopes you will accept a place on our wait list for the Class of 2016.

In early April, we will send you an e-mail asking if you would like to remain on the wait list. It is important that you respond to this e-mail, as students who respond in the affirmative will be considered if additional acceptances are granted, and students who respond in the negative or do not respond will be removed from consideration.

We are very optimistic that we will be able to grant a number of acceptances to students from the wait list. Housing is guaranteed for all students who are admitted from the wait list, and need-based financial aid will also be available for US citizens and Permanent Residents. In all cases, Case Western Reserve will notify students of final admission decisions no later than July 1, 2012.”

Very optimistic hmmm
