Waitlist News?

These waiting lists are emotionally and psychically taxing. If indeed it is true that there were only 10 waitlist spots for the class 2013, and it has been over 2 weeks since the admissions office started filling them, the odds seem unpromising by now for my daughter. Rats. Haverford was the one place where she had that “falling-in-love-with-this-community” feeling when she toured. I easily understand why. She would accept an offer in a flash if one came this summer, but that looks like a heck of a long shot by now.
Oh, the sting of unrequited love. Would it have made a difference if she had gushed uncharacteristically on her essay? Did it send an unintended signal when grandparental medical issues prevented her follow-up return trip for an interview? Are French, Latin, flute, piano, and theater not exotic enough passions to be eye-catching in this applicant pool? I don’t suppose we’ll ever know the reasons. Who among us on the outside can fully fathom the inscrutable ways of an admissions committee? Alas.
