It appears that girls had a particularly difficult time with admissions this year. There are just too many of us. Truly great stuldents with very high standardized test scores from my high school are attending colleges that, in a typical year would be considered second or third tier schools. These students are devastated that after all of the work they have done - AP classes everywhere - they are relegated to second rate colleges.

As far as the waitlist goes, I found it offensive that a college would waitlist me. I understand the reasons - too many qualified students, geographic diversity, pieces of the puzzle, etc., but still - I had strong feelings that if they didn’t really want me, then I didn’t want them. Probably I took it much too personally, but they were responding to my personal application - so how else to take it? Besides, I didn’t want the process to drag on any further. At some point - enough.
