My daughter was a WL kid - got off both Cornell and Duke 4 years ago. It varies year by year. My kid’s year, they took around a hundred, and after that they admitted too many kids, so they didn’t go to the WL.

My guess is this year a lot of schools may go to their WL, the reason is a lot more top students are applying to every top 20 schools. Last year Harvard took close to 100.

You wouldn’t get any notification if you sent in your acceptance of WL. You should get in touch with your regional rep and send in your updated packet.

You are not going to know if they are going to go to their WL until first week of May. If you are serious about getting off WL, you should send in additional information and maybe an essay to say why Cornell is still your first choice.
