Although I can see why you may think that, commonly referred to as “Tufts Syndrome” many students claim that this is the case. You can ask admissions and I’m sure they will tell you the same. Stony Brook has been receiving an increasing number of applications from year to year andthe admissions officers are forced to be more selective. I havea friend who was waitlisted this year with a 91 GPA and slightly lower SAT scores. The acceptance rate at stony brook is about 39% as it has been decreasing over the years.</p>
