Dear Joowon/FindmeFazo : The freshman class is always quoted as 2,250 which is the average number - this can go up or down slightly in any given year. The difference in this current recruiting year is that the accepted applicants included the new additional Boston College essay, thereby increasing the serious interest level of candidates to the chagrin of the Wait Listers.

The next serious data point will be the yield come May 1st - which will be driven via financial aid. Now, each year, college confidential is littered with successful BC applicants who have taken financial aid statements of “meeting 100% of demonstrated need” to mean “I am going to BC on a big time grant”. We remind everyone reading this thread that BC is a $50,000/year (and more) institution. Financially planning for those numbers should not have been left to only a financial aid award - yet we will see significant controversy in the next 30 days on this very subject.

Our estimate is that the waitlist will be tapped for no more than 150 possible candidates this season. Therefore, if you are currently waitlisted, be aware to spend your time selecting from amongst your current list of accepted schools.
