What are the chances of getting off the waitlist? On collegeboard, it said like 500 accept the waitlist and about 200 get in? I don’t know how up to date or reliable that source is. I was wondering what a “brief statement” is? 250 words?

same question… been wait listed as well.

when they say “brief statement”, do they mean that they want you to reassure how interested you are in the school?

Utterly confused!! I am a international applicant btw.

Yes, you’re more likely to get accepted off the waitlist if you send a message reassuring the school of your interest and call during the waitlist call-in days.

how about the brief statement? On GW’s WL response there is a notice that we could send in a brief statement as welll… wondering what fits best to the content…LOL

I just sent my rejection of being on the wait list since I’m going to Berkeley so there’s one less person competing against you now at least haha

When do you guys find out if you got accepted? Someone who I’m hoping to room with is on the waitlist…

they find out mid may

Hmm… later than I thought, but that makes sense, actually. Okay, so if my friend gets in off the waitlist in mid may, is it too late to request him as a roommate?

it all depends on the yield. admissions officers don’t even know until after all the deposits are back, but it’s never more than a couple hundred spots. ideally (from gws standpoint) they would have predicted the yield perfectly and won’t admit anyone off the waitlist.

According to the Wall Street Journal, 20% of the applicants who accepted a spot on GW’s waitlist last year got in:

So do we still put down a deposit for the school we will go to if not accepted?

Hi all! Same situation, and I’m also wondering how roommates would work. If someone I want to room with is already in, then assuming I get in would it be too late?

KDavs95, I think you have to put down a deposit someplace, and then be prepared to lose it if you decide to attend your wait list choice.

Damn. I don’t think I would be willing to throw away 100 bucks if I’m accepted off of the waitlist :(
