^^^Agreed. Berkeley is still the class of the publics Michigan, UCLA, UVA, and UNC are all behind…

^^^ Disagree.

UCB, UMICH, UVA, UNC are the great publics

UCLA, MSU, VTECH, NC STATE are riding their coattails respectively.

That’s the reason why I have trouble letting Michigan supporters like me (not just the football, the academics too!) see my point:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-essays/977950-trouble-writing-essay-whats-unique-about-u-michigan-ann-arbor.html

Look two posts above, UC Berkeley is now perceived on its own class. How can this be? It is…

^^^No. UCLA is really that good.

It is as good as UM-Ann Arbor and UNC.

Annoying to you, perhaps. That’s probably because in every argument you have with me, I end up completely crushing you. You have no response ready to defend yourself. You’re unable to accept it, and so you find some way to newly attack me as you’ve done now. Great job.
Besides you, I doubt I’ll find anyone else who finds me annoying. I’ve helped people all over these threads and I’ve given sound advice. Unlike you, my post history isn’t littered with obnoxious UMich advertisement and Duke bashing.

When I say “HOWEVER, 2010 Berkeley EECS admits have impressed me. Some of my brother’s friends have even turned down UPenn and Princeton to go there.”," I mean the student quality. These students are very smart, and they weren’t entirely sure if they wanted to do EECS. Its a simple remark and I praised Berkeley’s EECS program and it’s amazing graduate programs.

I personally don’t like its undergraduate program (except eecs) and I’m very skeptical about it. It doesn’t mean my opinion is right. The same applies for your precious UMichigan.

I personally don’t like Dukes undergraduate program and I’m very skeptical about it having read a lot of the Duke posters on this board over the years.

There is nothing like reading anonymous forum posts to judge the academic quality of an institution.

UCBChemE, well, good for you, and I have no reason to question your beliefs. But if you jump to this conclusion because of some Duke posters (who I’ve not seen being obnoxious here for quite a while, so this argument has become old) then you’re just kidding yourself. I’ve personally stopped every obnoxious Duke promotion I see on this board. Maybe you should do the same for Berkeley because it truth, while I hear you people criticizing how belligerent Dookies in CC have been, its actually Berkeley and UMich posters (You, RML, and rjkofnovi) being very belligerent by bashing Duke whenever its mentioned and promoting your insecurity through Berkeley and Mich.

Want examples of your insecurities? Take a few recently in this very own thread.

Not only do you promote your own alma mater, you bash other schools while pretending “Dookie CC posters” (who are non-existent with the exception of the dormant lesdiablesbles are far as I see) are the ones bashing schools. Congrats. Its people like you who put a dent on CC. Why don’t you try helping students around here legitimately instead of ■■■■■■■■ for your alma mater?

We need a “Duke, Michigan, Berkeley: Great Discussion Forum”, also we can invite Holy Cross admission officer Par72 to join us.

If a school is of any good, it will provde opportunities for students to excel on. I believe Michigan, UC Berkeley, Duke, Wake and USC will provide plenty of those

Saiyans, I’ve been on this board awhile. I’d say a majority of my posts are helpful. I don’t recommend Berkeley all the time. I realize it’s not for everyone. I will though try to correct misinformation. As for UCLA, I always give Berkeley’s little brother a bad time.

This. Let’s be honest, according to UNESCO there are 5758 higher educational institutions in the United States. Any of the top 50 schools are going to be in the TOP ONE PERCENT IN THE COUNTRY. And this is not Burma or something, it is the UNITED STATES, the epicenter of higher education/research/intellectual output of the world.

Then I apologize for being rash. I’m glad you do, and that’s all I want to hear. :)

wrong…

UCLA has received far too many applications to admit from the index for many years before the tidal-wave of students. Shows how much you know about UC in general outside of Cal.

You’re thinking of USC wrt to capitalizing on too many students for too few spots.

Since it’s the top one percent of all American higher institutes of learning, then why worry about not being able to go to the Ivies?

Top 25 is good enough already.

“Top 25 is good enough already.”

Some day we’ll all get an email from a CC staffer saying “Top 25 is good enough already,” just before he/she tales a sledge to some computers, grabs a beer, and slides down the inflatable emergency exit.

Name me a really bad college then.

Good for Wake and USC for gaining more recognition, and I say this as a proud Michigan Wolverine. Though I still believe that elite publics (Cal, UMich, UCLA, UVA, UNC) are just as excellent as prestigious privates (USC, Wake, Tufts) even if they may offer a different (but not necessarily better or worse) undergraduate experience.
