@m2mikee You definitely still have a chance. The change of major rules just GUARANTEE you will get into the major. If you read the rules they are very specific, and there are even rules that govern those rules.(e.g. all change of major requirements must be possible to complete in one academic year). The problem for transfers is we come in with so many units, so if you’re going to change you need to do so very fast to avoid going over 9 quarters. To help you succeed, I recommend you do this- Make sure you can complete your degree within 9 quarters for your newly selected major. If you can graduate sooner than create a realistic schedule showing that you can graduate in that time. It shouldn’t be too hard unless programming has too many units. This way when you apply you can demonstrate it’s feasible. Also keep a high GPA in the classes you’re taking, and maybe talk to your counselor soon about it, so they can know what’s going on. I was fortunate in that I got an e-mail asking if I still had interest in my first choice major (I was accepted as my 2nd major) and then from their my counselor worked with me to create a schedule so I could finish calculus 2 (the course I missing, why I was denied originally). It will probably be difficult creating a schedule/getting classes because if you’re a poli sci major you won’t be able to register for certain major only classes for programming until everyone else has had a go.Fill in your Upper-Division writing class for GE and take any classes you can get into just to get progress started. Sign up for the upper div writing asap though, you can always replace it if you end up getting programming slots… best of luck!
