Thank you! I am humbled at your familiarity with the journey this has taken me on and appreciate your kind words.
CMC is a really awesome school. There’s no need to Monday morning quarterback. You’re going to have wonderful opportunities at the school you were matched at. A match at CMC is not a failure.
Here’s some spotlight info on the school…
Dude, let me tell you that you can be extremely proud of yourself. When CMC decided to accept you, they decided that they wanted you enough that they would take you and house you and feed you at their own expense.
That’s how impressive you looked to them.
CMC is a academically very challenging college, and they wouldn’t accept you if they thought that you couldn’t keep up.
If you are good enough for CMC, you are good enough for every one of the colleges on your list. However, because these colleges are footing the entire bill, they also really look at fit, and the sort of person who who fit at CMC probably wouldn’t fit nearly so well at any of the other colleges on your list.
Around 10% of all QB applicants are matched, and it is less likely to be matched to colleges with low acceptance rates. Moreover, only students who are serious contenders are encouraged to apply, so there is self selection even before application.
I’m proud of you, and I’m just a stranger on an online forum. So, as I wrote above - you should really be proud of yourself, because what you did was a seriously awesome accomplishment.
Huge congratulations and good luck next year!
I don’t think that the kindness topic was a mistake at all. In any career, this is crucial, perhaps more important than all the traits that the grueling college application process selects for. I think it was a brilliant idea to write about this, and I hope that the sincerity of it came across well in your essay.
Who knows why the schools wanted one person rather than another? You got into a fantastic school, with tremendous opportunity, and you’re being given a full ride!!! You should be doing the dance of joy.
One thing that you might think of, now. You’re going to want some pocket money when you are at school. Unless you have some incredible career-enhancing volunteer opportunity that sucks up all your hours, maybe you should get a part time job now, and plan for a full time job this summer, to earn and bank some money before you go. Even though you’re being given a full ride, it’s nice to have some extra money on hand for expenses that you might not have expected. Right now, you’ve maybe got a bit of a break from college applications resume building, and aren’t expected to get a wow-factor internship at this time. So it’s a good time to earn some pocket money.
They’re grossly overrated, in my humble opinion. I promise you’re not missing anything. Good luck with college.
I agree.
I am thinking that this might be another case of a student applying to multiple excellent universities and colleges, and being accepted to one exceptional school which is a great fit for them. Colleges and universities are looking for students who are a good fit. In spite of negativity that some other unrelated schools might have gotten in the news recently, nonetheless I think that admissions at top schools get it right quite often when selected a few students from a very long list of exceptional applicants.
OP you are going to a great college in the fall that is part of an exceptional consortium of colleges. You will need to work hard and you will get a great education.
CONGRATULATIONS!
