@drylime It is fairly easy to switch majors even between different schools (ie from Arts and Sciences majors to Engineering majors or Business majors). Your academic advisor can guide you. The sooner you know you want to make the switch, the better, so that you can begin to take the required classes so you can graduate on time. My son knows students that switched from pre-med majors in Arts and Sciences to Engineering or to Business. Congrats on WashU - it is a great university.
Based on how WashU handle COVID-19, I would think twice
@fourng Really? As a parent, I can tell you that WashU is looking out for the best interest and safety of our students. All universities have had to make great sacrifices and decisions that no one would ever wanted or could have ever predicted. This is unprecedented, and everyone is doing the best that they can.
@fourng Could you be more specific? This is your first post and you are slamming WashU based on their response to Covid-19?! On what basis are you making these remarks? Careful how you defame and slam a school. From my perspective, they have been nothing short of professional, caring and communicative. They are first class in every way.
My son is a Frosh at WashU, he loves it, his major(s)/classes, friends, the campus etc… It is disruptive for all the universities that shut their dorms and abruptly moved to on-line learning (most have) - but this is important to help slow the spread of Covid19. I have seen directly how WashU and two Ivy-league universities are responding (they all moved on-line). WashU is he most thoughtful and has been the easiest to work with - it is a world class university in all aspects.
More people want to attend WashU than they can fit in the class. Unfortunately, they can not accept all the great students that apply. They were only able to accept 12.8% of the applicants this year and that can make it frustrating for many. I trust most applicants at this level have good options and I hope everyone the best as they continue on their respective journeys.
For those who will be a part of the class of 2024 congratulations! You will be challenged and supported as you grow - enjoy WashU!

@billbixby34 Do you think that your sibling will choose WashU or UChicago?
How are we being notified?
Notified about what?
Admissions decisions were posted to the portal last Thursday, 3/12. My D received her acceptance package by USPS Priority Mail on Monday, 3/16.
Or do you mean notified about merit or financial aid?
@momzilla2D The acceptance package was only the t-shirt? I think that is all that I got.
@Maltamilkbone My son received the shirt as well, but there was another ‘package’ that came with his admission letter a few days before.
@safiastyle I have only received the shirt, but I ordered it immediately after being accepted. I hope my admission letter didn’t get misplaced.
Oh, we haven’t gotten the t-shirt yet. The package we got had the acceptance letter, and some stickers (“tech tattoos”) and buttons (? I think?).
@momzilla2D Alright, I definitely have yet to receive that package.
They will definitely choose UChicago over WashU (theatre major so location is key and UChicago has a better CS program), but we’re still waiting to hear back from 16 schools so that could change. Right now UChicago is their top school out of the ones they’ve been accepted to though
I’m a bit late but I was accepted!!
I toured in September and my rec letters were decent and essays were pretty good.
ACT: 35
Received t-shirt yesterday, nice gesture!
Still waiting for the t-shirt!
Must be on its way…
D20 got hers today
