***WashU Class of 2020 RD Applicant Thread***

i was told by my parents to not expect much to any financial aid, so we did not bother with the NPC/EPC. still was expecting even just a little bit @momof2eagles

Has everyone’s financial aid been posted? I clicked the financial assistance tab on the left and went to the website, but it still hadn’t been posted yet.

Is 68k/yr financial aid a full ride?

@radison405 they send you an email if your fa is posted.

@CardinalSin2020 I believe so.

I got accepted for econ and strategy!

@CardinalSin2020 I think so but not all money is the same. the FA package should show the breakdown of grants , works study and loans on your FA portal. I think Wash Univ was very generous with grants but at least for us we did have some loans,work study as part of the package but majority was money we didn’t need to pay back(grants)

@momof2eagles I didn’t have any loans. I had a scholarship worth about 60k, and pell Grant and work study covered the rest

^ same, I received the Ramirez scholarship, anticipated pell grant, and work study. Hopefully it covers everything.

@puglyduckling and @CardinalSin2020 congrats! I do think it proves Wash Univ is generous in giving demonstrated financial need in the form of mostly grants. For those posting they didn’t get FA/or unhappy with FA packages , I understand its disappointing but you must have not shown demonstrated financial need. Most schools have NPC/EPC so your FA package really shouldn’t be a surprise to applicants if you ran the numbers before you applied. We found the EPC from wash univ. comparable to other selective schools-very generous and fair. If you didn’t get FA from Wash Univ probably wont get from other schools.

Do your 2015 taxes need to be filed to apply for FA? If not, is it better to use 2014 numbers, estimate 2015 numbers or buck up and get your 2015 taxes done? Thanks parents for any guidance.

@wamomof5 you can use your 2014 taxes until your 2015 are finished. It is best to get 2015 finished asap though.

Waitlisted… Feels bad man

Some people told me that WashU had crappy FA, but they were very, very generous with me.

I ran the NPC and had an ~13k EFC. WashU ended up giving me a 68k FA package (2.5k work-study.) I had special circumstances and they DO take those into account!

I was waitlisted for WashU and just realized that I never viewed my Academic Scholarship & Fellowship Programs and/or the University Scholars Program in Medicine decisions (just found the email that they had sent me that my decisions are ready). Is it safe to assume I was rejected for both of those because I was waitlisted?

@TheWaffleMan149 I’M IN TOO, PENN SQUAD IS TAKING OVER WASHU

@icrievrytiem WOOOOOOO

@Skyler1998 actually, that’s a lie. I got in with a 30 on my ACT, and I’m Asian (South Korean). Granted, I did get in ED, but even so, I think this shows that WashU looks past test scores and focuses on other things.

@ars4978 Yep, I didn’t apply for any scholarships which is what got me. I’m very middle class so they must’ve known I wouldn’t have been able to afford it.

Ouch.
