watched a Suze Orman show laterly?

Ummm…I have three sewing machines. (I do Judaic fabric art as a side business.) Yes, you can spend $5k easily on a top-of-the-line home embroidery machine. The commerical ones are more expensive than that. I have two Viking embroidery machines, one of which was $1100 and the other was a slightly used machine (origianlly $4k) which I got for $1400. Would not have spent this much $$ for a hobby, but for my business, I need something with consistent quality that could deal with heavy use.

Unfortunately, Singers are not what they used to be! The one I got for HS graduation in 1979 is now with my niece and still running. It cost $99 and made many, many wedding gowns and Gilbert & Sullivan costumes.

I don’t think Suze Orman would have a bone to pick with our family finances, though. We’re pretty conservative financially and know first-hand the value of being well-insured.

My D brought her sewing machine to school this year it is a Janome that we got at Costco about 4 years ago, when she was in high school and she started " restyling" vintage clothes.

I donated my old Newhome, to her highs school counselors village in Ghana- I figured they would use it more than me! But I may take some sheets up to borrow hers to make a comforter cover.
The most I ever did was make comforter covers for the girls- with a very basic machine- I am not very good laying out patterns etc…

Counting Down- "Judaic fabric art " ? sounds interesting…

I took my sewing machine to college – got much use!
