has anyone ever been to the water park at kingsdominon?

I’m 17. I don’t have a bad body. But I wore a tank top and cotton shorts to the water park last week. No one will care or think you’re weird, I promise.

If it is the kings dominion in VA, I have. It is decent, not as good as many though.

Yea that was the one i was talking about…

I LOVE Blizzard Beach at Disney World in FL!

I suggest a tankini with a skirt bottom. Lands End has many (available at Sears), or I found a cute one at Target. I only wear skirted suits at this point in my life.

Wear “water shoes,” too.

What a funny thread! One of the reasons I hate water parks is waiting in long lines, where the people in line ahead of you have on very few clothes…looking at most of us in a bahting suit for a prolonged period of time is a negative, rather than a positive, experience.

With that said, the last time I was at a water park, a rough spot on a slide tore a tiny hole the rear of my suit…thank goodness it didn’t turn into a huge hole, but the suit was ruined. For that reason I’d recommend woven board shorts, even if you have a terrific body.

I have a little pudge sort to speak, but i think i’ll try to find some board shorts and perhaps a nice top to go with it… sigh its such a pain sometimes…

I agree with missypie, opt for board shorts. They’re lightweight, comfortable, and dry very quickly.

I got really cute swim shorts from Land’s End. I know LL Bean has them too.

I used to wear shorts all the time in water parks. But then I lost a lot of weight and it is impossible to keep shorts on while I am on the rides! Now, I wear my bathing suit and as soon as I’m done, I put on those kind of silky exercise shorts (does anyone know what I’m talking about?) and they dry really quickly.

^like the athletic ones?

Yeah, athletic shorts. They often have little holes in them. I just can’t think of what they are called.

To whoever said that board shorts are more durable for water parks, think again! I’m the only one out of my family to have a “wardrobe malfunction” at a water park, and it was a tear from a slide at Typhoon Lagoon that left one of my cheeks that you don’t want to see exposed. One of the taller, faster ones as opposed to the ones that curve a lot. Needless to say that was the end of our day.

^that must have been terrible.

It is very awkward to come up for air and find your trunks or other bathing suit parts floating about 10 feet away from you. Staying power is a must.

^ the ones i’ve just gotten have a drawstring in them to keep them tied…

I had to laugh at the name of this thread. I thought I would be self conscious walking around in a bathing suit the first time I took my kids to a water park–until I saw the size of most of the people. Seriously, whatever size you are, you will get an ego boost when you look at 80% of the other visitors. I’m not kidding-=don’t even worry about it–just wear a comfortable bathing suit and water shoes so they won’t come off. Enjoy!

lol, i went to go try on my bathing suit today and guess what? the elastic is shot in it. Guess i have to go find a new one… :(

My favorite water park attire is a men’s swimsuit (they usually have pockets and dry quickly), a women’s bathing suit top and a quick dry t-shirt. Not only does the t-shirt hide things better off hidden, but it helps avoid sunburn. And water shoes are a must.

Just remember you will get fried out in the sun all day. I typically wear running shorts and a t-shirt over a swimsuit, and can take things on/off as I please (well the swimsuit stays on). Dont bring a lot of personal stuff, and if you do, splurge the little bit of $$ and rent a locker. No reason to take chances.

Agree with dg5052. Water park attendees come in all shapes and sizes. Do NOT worry about that in the least. As was mentioned above, you will see an interesting array of tatoos as well.

I happened to be AT the water park several (many) years ago the day they had the e-coli exposure, and wehappened to be lazy and walked through the baby pool (it was huge-- long walk around). Won’t do that again. Stay away from diapers.

I also rode down some humongous slide, looked down at my hand, and the diamond was missing out of my ring!! Spent most of the rest of the day filling out forms and learning more than I cared to about their filtration system, and calling my insurance company. We left the water park early b/c it rained. Found the diamond on my kitchen floor!! WHEW Spent the next day getting my setting fortified!!
