Wealth gap widens between whites, minorities

^^^Currently doing the same^^^^, though when D2 gets to college next year, and D3 is in private school ,a yearly 130k will be impossible to pay with income only. ;)

The life expectancy of Black males is 64.8

Does this take into acct the highish number who die before they’re even 25 (before they’ve paid much/any into SS).

If so, it may be more realistic to look at all peoples life expectancies after they reach - say - age 25.

When we were looking at stats for African Americans, it is sobering to see the mortality numbers. Even taking socio economics into account, the infant mortality rate is still significantly higher. The same with the Event Free Survival ( the EFS which is significant in my other world) numbers for children of color who have cancer.

I am not familiar with the figures being discussed in terms of life expectancies, but there is definitely a trend in the numbers I did see that medical treatments are not as effective with African Americans in a number of series. Why, i don’t know.

I also want to congratulate anyone who has structured and organized their financial lives in such a way that they have been able to pay for college without much trouble. (Very wealthy folks excluded!) We have not been so successful, mainly because of human frailties such as lack of discipline and wanting more upscale things over the long term of our family life more than scrimping on them for 4 years of college for each kid. A personal choice and weakness on our part.
