slight technicality-- dementia is different (in most cases ) from psychosis or delusional thinking. This person whas delusional or psychotic, or perhaps manic. Not “demented”. OK, back to your regularly scheduled airline stories.

I was also in a situation described above- where the flight attendant truly literally ignored everyone else and flirted with one traveler. We happened to be in first class and she was fawning all over this person. Completely ignored the rest of us. And it was a LONG flight. I should have filed a complaint but just let it go and moved on.

Husband travels a great deal internationally, and has amazing stories. He witnessed a drunken French guy who kept sneaking into first/business class to steal champagne - he ended up handcuffed into his seat; he saw a woman (who may have been mentally disturbed) go into loud, hysterical screaming every time the plane shook or bumped; he’s been on a plane that turned around after a heart attack; he sat next to a guy who suffered a devastating epileptic seizure over the ocean; he was even on a plane where someone died. Body was moved into the flight attendants’ area. And then, all the passengers were held up after the plane landed, to be interviewed by police/airline. Husband felt a grim sort of satisfaction, because this was first-class, and they usually get off the plane first. Ha! The one time it was better not to be among the rich fliers :)
