Well known schools with 45% and up acceptance rate? Help!

I hope to go to college with a recognizable name or one that is well-known, once I graduate it is my hope that employers will be familiar with my college.
I’m not looking to go to the top ivy league schools that everyone one knows (Harvard, Brown, Cornell, etc.). With my grades and test scores I have a pretty good chance of getting into a school with an acceptance rate of about 45% and up. For example, Purdue is a great school with an acceptance rate of about 68%, is well-known, and is very strong academically.
What are some well-known universities that are in the 45% and up acceptance range? I am really interested in schools on the East coast, but it doesn’t really matter where the school is located. (I hope this makes sense!)

Well, we need to know your stats. What are your test scores and GPA?

also, what is your budget. If Purdue is OOS for you, your family will be expected to pay the high cost.

Most of the stuff below top 30 or so in US News.

The big football/ basketball schools are much better known than many schools in the top 30 according to US News. I guarantee that more people know about University of Oregon or University of Georgia than Emory even though Emory probably provides a stronger academic environment.

There are also some excellent schools with relatively high acceptance rates that are well known to a certain swath of academics or people who need to know about these things, but are relatively unknown to the general public. Case Western Reserve University and Brandies both fit that mold.

University of Indiana
Michigan State
Ohio State

What is your state University ?

We can eliminate liberal arts colleges.

University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign
University of Wisconsin-Madison
University of Maryland
Penn State
University of Washington
Iowa State University
Indiana University
Rutgers

Adding to the List:

University of Connecticut
University of Pittsburgh
Virginia Tech
Ohio State University

Basically Public Flagships

O/P,

What is “well known” to you and what is “well known” to employers are two different things.

Look through this great thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1299462-looking-beyond-rankings.html

All the schools listed accept at least 50% of applicants and graduate greater than 50% of students. There are some real gems in there.

If you are looking into engineering, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is well known. As of 2014, it has an acceptance rate of 41% (Source: CollegeBoard).

I would sat Penn State is most prestigious with acceptance rate over 45%

Texas A&M is 69% acceptance rate (although perhaps misleading due to large number of autoadmits on SAT/ACT and class rank). Well known by employers. Top 10 in various undergraduate engineering fields (among others). And among major public universities:

GeorgiaTech
CalBerkely
CalPoly

were the only ones rated higher among public schools on return-on-investement by Payscale

Why all these responses to an old thread ?

Noobs bump old threads and people don’t notice the stale date.
