Wesleyan Class of 2018 ED I Thread

I applied to a program called QuestBridge but didn’t make it as a finalist. I was really upset and didn’t know what areas (test scores? essays? recommendations?) were lacking so I could fix them. I would’ve ranked Wesleyan as one of my top schools and after seeing everyone get accepted I just feel disappointed in myself all over again.

QuestBridge is an extremely competitive program where only like 5% of the kids get matched. It has nothing to do with you personally and I am positive you have a great shot at Wes! You play piano and seem to have many interests/I’m sure you have good scores! Just relax and try not to stress too much (I should probably use this advice myself), you’ll know for sure next friday.

Decisions are officially Dec 13th

how do you know?

It was on a girl’s acceptance letter that the acceptance package will be mailed out on the 13th. So not official, but nearly so

oh cool. so close…

yess!! it basically is official because the same thing happened on last years thread…

I saw the actual acceptance letter it was scary I cried

Omg with this news I am officially freaking out…I feel like I say that all the time. We are all qualified and I just want this to be over and us to all get in!

What was it like clearwater! And yeah I really really hope we all get in!!

clearwater how did you see it??

Someone posted it on Facebook

Hello all, my name is Lilac.

I’m posting here today to compare numbers, even though I know Wesleyan values the whole student I just wanted to see what my chances are… I’m nervous for ED I.

I have a 34 ACT, a 2090 composite SAT score.

I was wondering if Wesleyan recognize the National Barista Exam? My hobby is that I am a barista in the small town of Ada Ohio and I received an impressive 20 on the NBE (National Barista Exam).

I have a 94.5 GPA and have taken 4 AP’s (3D Studio, Italian Language, Human Geography, Psychology).

My hopeful thought is that Wesleyan will recognize some of the quirkiness that I hold as a student. After reading this forum I came to the conclusion that above grades and performance, quirkiness is most importantly considered at Wesleyan.

I was born into a Christian family that converted to the religious traditions of the Cherokee tribe after the 2008 recession. We live on a small commune of farmers and village workers in Ada Ohio and I have learned many valuable skills here. This is what I mainly focused on in my Common App Essay.

I’ve talked to Daniel Felsen and he has helped me gain connections in the admissions office at Wesleyan so I hope this will help.

Thanks so much and I would love feedback ^_^

This thread made me doubt getting accepted just THAT much more.

danielfelsen you have connections to admissions??

blueskies, we all have a chance! just remember this is cc

Wait what Youthspritililac? I dont remember speaking to you nor do I have connections to AdCom. I wish! And in regards to quirkiness, wesleyan has a holistic approach so it’s a combination of everything, personality, ECs, grades, scores, etc. And Blueskies don’t worry this thread is just us talking about randomness, I’m sure you have a great shot!

Can we please not compare stats…I know we’re all nervous, but seeing all these numbers and EC’s etc. really increases my anxiety. After all, nothing anyone says here has any affect on actual decisions, so we should just all hope for the best.

yeah this entire thread so far has just been us rambling on about our nervousness haha

I just looked and there is no such thing as the NBE (National Barista Exam)…

ok youthspiritlilac
