fly me:
I copied/pasted the dimensions from that apple link. Didnt even notice there was a .01" difference (.1mm) between the 2 plus versions! Wonder if thats a typo on their site. Boy are they confusing!!
@jym626, how bizarre! That’s why I was so surprised to see the measurements, because Apple always keeps the same dimensions for their “s” model as their numbered models. I’ll be going from a 5s to a 6s this time. Since the 6s is thinner, it’s not supposed to feel larger than the 5s. We’ll see.
@AboutTheSame, I don’t know - I’ve never paid attention and most of the time it’s in his hand. I don’t know what you mean by bend, either. My phone cannot bend.
I thought I had the 6s but I guess I have the 6 plus. Very confusing.
@emilybee – you asked about locked vs. unlocked. If you buy a phone from Apple under their new program, it’s unlocked.
@Lergnom – you wrote, " if you’ve had a 2 year contract and it’s expired, you call and get the subsidy price taken off your bill." Is that for every phone carrier? I have AT&T, and I’m approaching my 2-year mark on my 5S.
Which I have no plan to replace immediately. Last two phones I upgraded as soon as I could (3GS to 4S to 5S), but I’m keeping my 5S as long as I can. Like a bunch of you said – I have too many pocketbooks and pockets that work with the 5S, and I don’t want the bigger (and heavier) phone. I’m keeping my fingers crossed it lasts until the 7 comes out next year – although knowing Apple, there’s probably a little bot in my phone that will go off in about a month making something not work, forcing my to buy sooner than I want to.
ATT does do something but you should contact them.
Hi,
I’m part of high school team that has submitted a project to the Verizon Innovative App Challenge" and if we win the “App Challenge Fan Favorite Award” we win an additional $15,000 for our school in California. I am looking for general ideas on how to drum up the popular vote. It is against CC policy to ask members to vote for us directly, but I was told by a mod that it is OK to ask for other ideas on how to increase votes. Thanks for any thoughts you may have.
@FlyMeToTheMoon : It turned out to be (at least, in my opinion & based on empirical evidence) the connector on the end of the charging cord and not the phone. I bought a new charger from Amazon with a longer cord. It is also a heavier weight/diameter, and works like a charm.
@emilybee : The bending issue with iPhone 6 may have been resolved before your husband got his. When I Google the question, the problems seem to be 2014. I’m still sticking with my little 5 now that it charges reliably.
I had a Samsung Galaxy so the size of the iPhone 6 was familiar to me. I used some one else’s iPhone 6 on a trip and just put away my camera after the first few days. Loved the photos, so I got myself my first iPhone ever. I cannot yet use a Mac for business without having Windows available on parallels, so I was concerned about the iPhone.
I have to say, I have drunk the Apple Kool Aid, this thing is fantastic, so much more intuitive than I expected. I had an iPhone expert around to help me through a few bumps that were not intuitive and am thrilled with the iPhone 6s.
I have always purchased the cheap phone and remained behind the times, but I need fast internet for work and just decided to bite the bullet, I guess I did that wrong, cheap phones when they were subsidized and expensive phone when I pay myself!
S bought me in iPhone 6s for Christmas. It has the best camera phone of all our phones. The feature where it shoots several photos is cool too. I’m happy he bought it unlocked at the Apple Store, so it can be used with ANY carrier, unlike our old iPhone 5 that is only good for Sprint and similar.
We just went from totally dumb phones to smart phones - DH got the 5S because he liked the smaller size; I got the 6S because why not! DS is jealous because I now have superior technology to his new Moto.
So far I love it and have been having a great time learning what I can do with it. I did have an iTouch - the OS got too old to support my game updates and the battery stopped holding much charge - but at least I’m used to the way it works so had a head start on the iPhone.
I’m having fun with Siri - being lazy like asking how warm it is outside instead of standing up and looking at the thermometer. I’m amazed at the voice recognition capability - I tried talking with an accent and Siri wouldn’t answer. I’m retired so don’t really need a “computer on the go” so am investigating some of the non-internet functions. Love the camera and that I can post directly to Facebook for example. I loved my digital camera but it was a pain to have to connect and download pictures to do anything with them. I’m taking the Photography session at the local Apple store this week so hopefully will learn how to better utilize the camera functions.
I also received a 6S for Christmas. As a retired person, I didn’t think I needed one…I didn’t use my previous “unsmart” phone except for the occasional call. But I love it!
My family just got back this morning from The Big Island and it was so useful! The camera takes wonderful pictures…even though the user has deficiencies.
I was able to leave my MacBook Air at home and surprisingly I didn’t miss it! The TripAdvisor, Kindle and Google Maps apps got a workout. And the ability to text with everyone in the family at once was too fun!..especially when the guys went to play golf and the ladies did their own thing.
It definitely is an example of “you don’t know what you’re missing out on until you”, in this case, experience the conveniences of an iPhone. Could I have lived without it? Yes. But now that I have one, I appreciate the fact that I don’t have to lug around a phone, books, a dedicated camera, and a computer on trips…not to mention texting pictures is so much fun!
The nav system on the iPhone’s seems to work much better than competing phones. That is a major way we use our phones.
