<p>Being instate does help your chances for schools like W&M and UVA, but not as drastically as many people on this forum have been describing. Certainly it wouldn’t make either of those schools a safety. </p>
<p>You should note that many of these schools often have the choice of submitting an optional art supplement. If you are passionate about art or have created some original pieces, you can create a portfolio of them and submit it via common app around application time.</p>
<p>Work hard the rest of the year and do well and standardized testing, then more likely than not you will get into at least one of these schools. I currently attend W&M, so if you have any questions about the school itself, let me know. Good luck!</p>
