What are my chances?

Garrity, I am Asian. My people need to understand that it is fact that colleges apply higher standards to us.

bobby100: I am sorry, but I don’t believe you nor does it matter. You are neither polite nor credible in my opinion based on your posts here and in other threads.Asians can be racist against other Asians- there is a long and documented history of this regarding the people of Japan.

Are you serious? Stop trying to get her hopes up (don’t blame me if she gets rejected from all those schools) This girl is the epitome of a stereotypical asian person… Teaching chinese really isn’t that special. There is nothing in this girl that will make an adcom go WOW

I did use “excellent”. I should have written “strong”. I am surprised at the level of emotionalism displayed here. Again, I respectfully disagree based on my real life actual experiences. I know what US News stats are published, but my experience differs here. In a month you will read of several “perfect” Ivy applicants being outright rejected, and many imperfect, atypical accepted applicants. And yes, I am serious. I suspect, based on your writing style and decorum, that you are a teenager. I respect your opinion, and US News will back you up. All I can write is of my experiences and ask that you wait a month and then we can debate again.

hey guys, can you guys go and chance me? my thread is “PLZ CHANCE ME”

thank you, and honest opinions, plz, conflicting opinions too, if necessary

oh, and i dont wanna be a spammer, but i would say you have a chance at these schools, if wut they are saying nowadays is true: standardized test scores are becoming less and less important

I come from Whitney High School #1 PUBLIC in the state of California and not only do i see people getting into Stanford and Harvard with EXCELLENT grades and ecs, but also i see them getting rejected even more.

Stats show from CNN, World news, US News, and whatever news you want to say that 4.0 and 2400 will get in more and that is true, but what people fail to realize is that stats aren’t everything and i’ve read the whole conversation from the beginning. Garrity’s stand on this post is the strongest.

do u have sat 2 scores?

What’s your rank? By the way, it isn’t important how long she has played the violin and piano, but rather how much time she has put into it. I have taken piano lessons for about the same number of years, but I never did any significant practicing until a couple years ago. Not too sure about the other schools, but stanford is a big reach.

my school doesn’t have ranking but should be 5-7%
sat II’s
chinese: 740
math I: 730
math II: 700
act: 31
sat math: 74 writing: 65: 62

…i didn’t know my post would cause such a conflict. really sorry…thanks for the comments.

anie810:

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach (out of state)

ok, look, this might be late, but that 740 on SAT chinese will be a killer
