<p>It’s biased towards in-staters and is quite a bit more selective than UIUC.</p>
<p>Actually ACA, Illinois is, as would be expected, very selective when it comes to Engineering. But in all other fields, you are quite right, Michigan is more selective than Illinois. </p>
<p>Anonamous, ALL state schools give preferential treatment to their in-staters. That’s the point of a state university…to service the residents of the state.</p>
<p>So as an international would it be better to apply to private univs then??</p>
<p>What would be some good private schools that have good engineering program… also please dont include the extreme reaches like MIT or caltech</p>
