What are the chances for me to get into these colleges

Hi, I am junior this year in high school. For the past few months I have been FREAKING OUT about colleges. I was wondering if some people could help me get the pain off my chest.

here are some of the colleges I would really love to go to:

Northeastern University
Boston University
Pepperdine University
McGill
London School of Economics
NYU

*these are just my I REALLY want to go there colleges

here are my stats:
I have a 3.1 - it is the third marking period, i think i can get it up a lil more
so far, my sat’s are 1900 math-760 cr-550 wr-590 but I am working to get that up as well
SAT 2 Math 2 -800 physics I will take next year.
I have taken some serious classes and some not.
my freshman year i only had math geo as honors, sophamore only math as well, junior I am taking AP stat, hon math, hon science, and taking AP BIO and AP history, but not taking them as classes.

Next year I am taking AP Calc, AP physics or chem, AP world, Hon forensics, maybe AP psychology, everything else cp

and i’ve taken 2 years of regular french
My extra curricular activities are outstanding: I have literally done almost everything my school has to offer and more:
Math league
marching band
Jazz band
debate
Male achapela
partially participated in student government/prom comittee
investment club
cross country
swimming
french club
newspaper club
chess club
tech team* my school has given every student mac laptops and i volunteered to participate in a student technology program that allowed students to work as staff except without pay
science league
winter-wonderland committee* charity
art club

there is probably more but I don’t remember off the top of my head

I am also a computer programmer, I know html, java, part flash, C, C++.
I also participated in chess competitions and math competitions.

I know I don’t have the best track record academically wise, but i’m hoping my sat’s and extra stuff gets me in. Please tell me what you think. If I can’t get into those I’ll just go to the other schools I will apply to that arn’t on this list and are not as good as these are.

is your 3.1 w or uw, well either way you are f@cked
your gpa is gng 2 kill u + your cr isn’t very good either.
to have a decent shot at the colleges you listed you would need a 3.6+ w
Northeastern University-reach
Boston University-reach-u should have at least a 3.4 uw , your sat is average for bu
Pepperdine University-reach
McGill-idk
London School of Economics-idk
Nyu-your sat is below average as is your gpa
prognosis-you have a good sat score, but your gpa is terrible. apply to easier schools because you probably wont get into any of these.

Re: McGill

For enroled American students, the average GPA is 3.8 and the average SAT is 2100. You are on the low side for both stats. McGill does not look at EC’s except for major scholarships.

Re: London School of Economics (similar to McGill)

For enroled American students, the average GPA is 3.8+ and the average SAT is 2100+. You are on the low side for both stats. LSE looks at EC’s, but they must be unique and over a certain period of time

Try not to freak out… that won’t help things.

Consider taking the list to your guidance office. Ask them for a list of of schools that fit your profile and are likely to accept you based on high school history. If they have Naviance program set up, check out the SAT/GPA grids for the accepts for other students.

Research those schools to see if any appeal to you to expand your list.

Good luck!

the gpa is out of 4.0 and i am looking at the collegeboard website and I see that for BU 20% of there kids there have a 3.0-3.24 gpa, thats 1 out of 5 kids, isn’t that a lil high? + i got it up to 3.23 still out of 4. + if i got my SAT’s up to 2100 what would be my chances then?

The only and best thing you can do is work your hardest to bring your GPA and SATs up. NYU is ridiculously selective, especially if you are applying to Stern. It’s not completely out of your reach though. I also suggest looking into the the Economics/Computer Science program at NYU CAS. Seems like it may fit you well?

I think you are a medium reach for Northeastern and BU though.

Good luck!
