What are the most annoying threads on CC?

I agree with whoever said the threads where the OP does not come back and answer questions or comment on the comments!

Where the OP finds it necessary to respond to almost every new post – especially when it emerges that the OP is looking for only one kind of answer.

Vaguebooking threads–for instance I don’t get the “Methadone” thread which is a bunch of vague unanchored comment about…something. (with wink wink nod nod comments between those sharing the vagueness.)

I get annoyed with threads in which the OP asks a question, and then gets angry at people who answer the questions–but not in the way OP wanted. I.e., “Is it crazy to spend $X to send my kid to an Ivy League school?”

When freshman or 8th graders post chance me threads. Or parent threads about their kids dating.

The “can’t decide between vacationing in Aruba or Italy this year” threads, followed closely by any chance me thread.

This isn’t a thread but a kind of post … when people respond on the Say It Here thread. It clearly says not to respond.

“say it here” is another I don’t get.

Agree. If you can’t handle any possible answer, DON’T ASK THE QUESTION!

“Ban this” and “Ban that” threads that really are just threads of people who want to eliminate something innocuous, which they do not like or something where they would take a different choice. Never get why people want to take choice from others - very intellectually neanderthal in my view.

I can’t decide between spending the summer doing eco work in a Costa Rican rain forest or sailing single-handed across the Atlantic.

Which is better for Harvard?

Any thread with the word “Ivy” in the title.

The phrase “Is _____ Worth It?” is another red flag.

Another annoying one is the screaming’, histrionic title that doesnt give a clue as to what its about. Like"HEEELLLPPP!"or ÖMG!!!"or what have you. Almost as annoying as the "hance me"threads and the disappearing OP or OP who wont listen to feedback. Also don’t like most of the “ode to one poster” type thread. Some, on a case by case basis, may be appropriate. depending on the situation.

Last one I cant stand are the threads/posts with a post so long it needs chapter headings. I tend to nod off trying to read those, so don’t bother.

“I got a 2300 SAT, 35 ACT, I’m president of 6 clubs, VP of 7, Treasurer of 2, Varsity tennis, traveled to Nicaragua and rebuilt a flooded village, did research at Johns Hopkins and cured high-cholerstoral-cancer-AIDS. I got a B+ in history freshman year though so I’m scared Harvard will reject me :’( Please console me and reassure me of how great I am”

^Or the same one, but wants to know if they will get into the state flagship…with auto-admission…

Most annoying are the ones complaining about ‘we already talked about that’… not everyone has the time or energy to cover what you may have discussed a week, a month, a year or 10 years ago. Don’t like the topic, don’t read the thread.

Ones where the OP just keeps starting new threads about the SAME topic.

AND where the OP never comes back to say “thank you” when responders have spent time trying to be helpful, even doing research and providing links.

I should have added these: DON’T ATTEND X COLLEGE!!!

Any thread that pleads: “Help me find a good college so I won’t be stuck going to my big state u. with the Neanderthals!”

How about the "help me find ______that is cheap in Boston, NYC, L.A., Or D.C? Um there isn’t much that is cheap in those places!
