What are the most annoying threads on CC?

Any thread that includes a poster bragging about some fancy school they or their kid attended who doesn’t know that the word ‘alumni’ is plural. No, you are NOT ‘an alumni’ of [insert prestige name here]. You’re an alumnus (or alumna).

Now get off my lawn!

Too bad it’s not permitted to start a “Who are the most annoying posters” thread…

It’s that festive time of the year again-- the time when all the ED applicants w buyer’s remorse want to weasel out of their binding agreement…

Agreed, GMT. Reading these threads seems to suggest that many confuse ability to pay with willingness to pay.

^I can’t even…!

Yale early action admitted kid with parental income of 400-500K complaining about financial aid not being fair to his family.

For me it is the international posters needing full FA and/or merit who post stats that cannot possibly get them into a full need for internationals school and cannit possibly get them merit. I think all the chatter around the world about how “bad” US schools are has convinced some kids that an “eh” score and they are gods in the US system…

And of course they don’t want to hear that bc if you look at the graphs on the internet, of course Harvard et al admit some kids with “eh” scores.

@GnocciB, which forum is that one in?!

Here it is:

Financial Aid forum.

The “I need help, and I NEED IT NOW!!!” threads.

If it’s a dire emergency, call 911. Otherwise, you’re at the mercy of the schedules of the people who happen to read your thread, and who are in a position and mood to help you.

^Agreed. But I’ll cut them a little slack if it is a time-sensitive issue. I really dislike the ones that are “URGENT!” but have no real time constraint. (And don’t forget those annoying bumps after only 3 minutes!)

@gnocchib

Aw give the family a break! They may be forced to sell the villa in Tuscany to send the kid to college. Shameful sacrifice to be forced to make.

“Asian discrimination” threads.

The circle of life on CC:

Chance me
I made a mistake on my application
Decision results
Can I get out of my ED commitment
Will I be rescinded because…
I am not happy at…
Chance me for transfer to Elite University

Threads in which the poster anticipates a tremendous jump in SAT or ACT score, such as: “Scored 1720 first time out but am confident I can bring that up to 2150.”

How can I get from a 29 to a 36? Um, maybe you can’t… How does one say that?

Also, can you adults chance me on getting a raise at work? I got the second highest rating, and my attendance is pretty good!! Will chance back!!

The thread in which the parent objects to her snowflake having to do her alumni admission interview at a McDonalds because (for the most part), “as a rule our family does not visit McDonalds”

The 1st thread by OOS college senior who made an acct to trash a school s/he’s been attending for years.

If the OOS school is so awful, then why did u stay? No one’s barricading the transfer door.

Any thread that is posted identically in multiple places on this forum.

Also, posts written by a parent supposedly, but when you look at back posts, it’s really a student…or vice versa.

And lastly, the spam posts that seem to crop up during school breaks
