Not a thread, per se, but my friend told me that she got accepted into Brown with a “full ride” early, but wasn’t going to attend. Her parents are both doctors, and Brown only offers ED and RD.
@GnocchiB Somebody actually did that? Is the thread still around?
Definitely the 2015 PSAT Discussion Thread
Seriously? NO ONE knows yet what the cutoff score will be for your state and asking 17 times is obnoxious
Pannicked threads about adcomms not responding immediately to an “urgent” emailed question.
Does this generation not know about the **“voice call” **phone app?
The requests to review letters asking for reinstatement after a bad semester or year. Good god, they are always soooo long, so full of big words that aren’t necessary, so full of extraneous data that it’s hard to separate out the true crisis from the merely inconvenienced.
@Spaceship Yes, it’s closed but still around:
The threads that are chugging along nicely according to the opening post and supported by others with a shared interest or need, which are then punctuated by posters who drop in long enough to proclaim that they don’t “get” the thread or find it useless and stupid. If you don’t like it then ignore it and leave it to those who do. Easy as pie.
@GnocchiB That thread made me so angry.
^^^ same here, @awesomepolyglot
Oh boy, really struggling today. Trying to determine whether I’m more annoyed by poster asking question about chances for getting into a “low tier Ivy” or by the fact that said poster calls Carnegie Mellon (for computer science) a “low tier” school.
Deep breaths.
I sneezed without a tissue; will I be rescinded?
why does anyone with a 3.5 weighted GPA chance for CMU or Ivies anyway? They won’t like the answer. Or the “Can I get into brown with a 1700 bc my sister did” one…
@saintfan amen. Certain posters just cannot understand what the back button is for. We need a thread for that: Back-button Etiquette and Tutorial!
This is not going to be a popular opinion but I find this thread the most annoying of all…
^^^^Yeah, 792 posts before yours disagree, lol.
@sax are you ready for “Back-button etiquette”?
Threads that differentiate between “upper ivies” and “lower ivies”…

Threads by international students who ask which US school will give them a full tide, and which major to pick that’ll land them a well-paying job in the US afterwards.
“Should I go to this good high school where I’ll actually learn something, or should I go to this crummy high school where I can get a high class rank?”
Threads where a CC regularly makes insightful, knowledgeable and/or strongly worded comments and people assume the CC regular is a man.
Not necessarily annoying, but this one was just plain ridiculous http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/1827779-blackmailed-from-my-college-application-essay-writer-p1.html
