Not sure if its more annoying or entertaining but the thread where some student is looking for recommendations for a “massage” (yes, THAT kind of massage) in Ann Arbor. @-)
Two recent posters are annoying. One where the kid can’t decide between two really wonderful options and acts like the dilemma is ‘stop the world from revolving’ serious. Another where a parent is hyper critical of well meaning posts who actually give really decent advice, but OP is super bitter.
It’s not really “the most annoying,” but a particular poster’s posts are usually so long I don’t bother reading them. I’m sure there’s some good info., but too many words for me.
Not annoying but the volume of them makes me kind of sad: the number of “I have no friends in college” threads.
The most annoying threads are the one’s we can’t start – like the one on Alec Baldwin’s hilarious performance last evening.
^Even as a moderator, I have to agree with you, @HarvestMoon1.
These kinds of threads are annoying to me:
4.0 but a low score (34) on ACT – Are My Ivy Chances Doomed?
And
I Want to Transfer from my dream college because I’ve been here for a whole week and I still haven’t made any really close friends.
Ones where people either say " I didn’t take time to read the whole thread " or " I know nothing about such and such" but here’s my opinion . If you have to make a disclosure statement about your opinion , maybe you shouldn’t be giving your opinion. JMO
I wanted to offer few examples, but cannot, as I have not read this whole thread.
I just wish all posts would lead with an adequately descriptive title. This is my biggest complaint about CC forums. It’s really not that hard.
BUT THEY ARE NEEDING HELLLP!!! ITS A CRISIS @dyiu13 . No time for a useful title that might actually let the readers have a clue as to what it is about.
This thread is annoying because I keep wondering if anything is about me.
^^^^^“You probably think this song is about you…”
It would be helpful if posters included relevant details in their threads instead of skirting the issue. Hiding that they’re international, low income, have low stats, or that their parents didn’t actually say money is no object doesn’t help and it’s a gigantic time waster. As soon as one of these relevant issues is brought to light they skip out on the thread and try to elicit the answers they want in a whole new thread.
I want one special day on cc where everyone who starts a reply with “I didn’t read the whole thread but” gets put in jail for that day and can’t post for 24 hours.
It would be called Read The Thread, Dang It!, Day.
I didn’t read the whole thread, but whatever @MotherOfDragons is proposing, I figure it must be a good idea.
←of course
@MotherOfDragons Did you read the whole thread because your post sounds remarkably familiar , see post 1908
Posing an argument for the other side, since some might choose to join a discussion midstream an not have the opportunity to read pages and pages and pages of back conversation that’s no longer relevant to the current chatter. That’s not always a bad thing
@jym626 If “current chatter” is no longer relevant to the the thread than the thread has derailed and should be a new thread IMO
Just leave out the “I didn’t read the whole thread” part and nobody will know. It’s not like posters here on CC like to repeat the same thing someone else has said. /sarcasm/
