Sort of an aside to the conversation, but IMO important to keep in mind: Mathematics is a STEM major (I mean, it’s even in the name!), as are things like biology, chemistry, and physics, but those are also all liberal arts fields—and so, unsurprisingly, they’re fields with excellent programs at a lot of LACs. (Engineering is, of course, much rarer—though not nonexistent!—at LACs.)
If you’re going to talk about STEM fields, you need to be careful to not reduce STEM to just engineering.
