What are you reading?

Reading Herzog by Saul Bellow and Incorrigible by Patrick Middleton. I knew Pat when I was a kid. Google him, his story will amaze you.

Have you seen our (very long) thread on “best books”? People pop out and post whenever they finish something they like.

one of the best books I’ve read in the last 6 months is . . .

If you like historical fiction, I think we were just talking a bit about Wolf Hall near the end of that thread. >>>>>>>>>

Okay, sorry!

I like this thread too. So many times I read books that by no means belong on the Best Books thread. I find it interesting to see what others are reading now, knowing that most won’t end up considered a “best book.”

I am currently reading VJ: a history of the early years of MTV written by the 4 surviving original VJ’s (Mark Goodman, Martha Quinn, Nina Blackwood and Alan Hunter.) It’s light, quick & fun. Nobody watched more MTV that I did back in the day. I was a true 80’s child :)

I am reading And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini (Kite Runner) and it’s wonderful as are all his books. I loved The Book Thief @ rom828 and I could not finish Snow by Orhan Pamuk either!!!

Lulu, The Kite Runner is one of my all time favorites. I look forward to the new book. It’s on my list. I’m glad to know you loved it.

I’m about 50 pages into Helene Wecker’s The Golem and the Jinni. So far, it’s delightful.

I might not have found this book if Ignatius had not mentioned it on the book club thread. Thanks, Ignatius!

I just finished A Thousand White Women". It was well written historical fiction. A real page turner.

I am currently reading “Racing in the Rain”. I am having a tough time of the book being written from the perspective of the dog. The jury is still out but I think I like it.

I have the four novels that the Game of Thrones series is based on and I look forward to starting them.

Reading ** transatlantic ** Colum McCann’s newest - bought kindle version because I liked Let the Great World Spin so much.

** Ignatius ** agree with your post #23

End the Fed-Ron Paul

Not as technical as I would have liked, but the history of our three central banks was nice.

Who’s read A Thousand Splendid Suns? I found The Kite Runner to be so beautiful, but almost unendurable to read. What’s the beauty-to-pain ratio in the second book?
