Does anyone who use purse organizers know of a nice one fir a bucket bag style? I think I’m going to need one.
I just got a really nice tan leather Tommy Bahama bucket bag. I love it.
I’ve bought 2 purse organizers. Both from amazon. I picked cheap ones from amazon. One is nylon and one is felt. Even though the nylon one isn’t fancy, it’s the one I use. The felt one is very heavy and I wouldn’t recommend it. Made my bag really heavy. The nylon one doesn’t add any weight
I’m having a “handbag crisis.” I already own the blue suede Kate Spade from Nordstrom I put a link to at some point. I like it a lot, but it doesn’t have many compartments, and the “drop” or whatever it’s called is kind of short. Plus, it doesn’t close all the way on top, which has bothered me enough that I haven’t used it yet.
Today I bought the bag below, because it’s the last day of a sale. IF I keep it, it might be the most I’ve ever spent on a bag. But it’s very “me” and it’s kind of an update to a classic Coach Bag I’ve owned for years.
I will not use two bags and switch things back and forth. So I really only need one. I will likely go with the black, because it’s pretty boring and classic (I won’t use the metal strap, only the leather one). But the blue is so “fun” and it would be great for retirement…
Talk about a first world problem
Back to those purse hooks. How in the world do those little things work? How can you put them on a restaurant table and it holds the heavy purse weight?
CB, it works kinda like it is described here:

Or like this (it is a bracelet! it is a purse hook!):

I like the classic lines of the Coach bag. Does it come in any other colors than black? That would satisfy both wants. Also, it’s 1/3 off.
@bookworm, the other color it comes in is a golden tan color, I don’t like it at all. I wish they had it in grey or blue. This weekend I’m going to try putting my stuff in both and see how they work. That may help me decide.
The Coach bag may be a little too heavy.
That Coach is a classic. And very elegant and understated. My biggest concern would be the weight. With the chain and thick leather, it can be quite heavy.
1214mom,
I don’t think you have the perfect bag yet.
Have you looked at MCWallace bags? They weigh almost nothing, have compartments, and come in great colors. I like the dark blue and burgundy, but have given the grey and black as gifts. Bloomingdales has many.
@1214mom , the black bag is gorgeous and elegant. I would use the chain for more dressy occasions, or going out in the evenings, etc.
Keep the Kate Spade. It’s nice to have a fun purse! My new bucket bag is different than I’ve ever carried. I always looked for compartments on the outside, lots on the inside…and this doesn’t have that. I’m going to buy a bag insert.
@ChoatieMom — LOVE that bag! Just ordered materials.
I’d never heard of MZ Wallace until this thread. I like this one:
https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/mz-wallace-large-tribeca-downtown-crossbody-bag/5222995?origin=category-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FBrands%2FMZ%20Wallace&color=black
But it’s not on sale, and I feel like for about the same price as the Coach, I like the Coach better. Without the chain, the Coach bag isn’t heavy. I think it’s going to work for me, but I am thinking on it for a couple more days. I’ve looked all through the Coach, Kate Spade, Fossil and MZ Wallace sites, and at Nordstrom and Macy’s, and I haven’t found anything I like better. I went into the Coach store 3 times to admire that bag, and when it was still on sale yesterday, I decided to get it.
I love that Coach bag. My only concern would be the weight but it is really beautiful!
In terms of inside organizers, I bought a felt one and it has made a world of difference with a large hobo-ish style bag I have. I love it and didn’t find it really added weight. I was concerned the nylon one wouldn’t hold its structure. @deb922, does the nylon one fold onto itself? The felt one is sturdy for what it is. It was very reasonably priced on Amazon. The key is to measure your bag and buy the correct size for your bag as there are many options/sizes.
This is the nylon purse organizer I have or close to it. https://www.amazon.com/Hockline-Updated-Organizer-Handbag-Handles/dp/B07RNGJQ72/ref=sr_1_24?crid=2MKTXLK0WBRFO&dchild=1&keywords=nylon%2Bpurse%2Borganizer%2Binsert&qid=1569690260&s=gateway&sprefix=Nylon%2Bpurse%2B%2Caps%2C175&sr=8-24&th=1
It’s not great but it works. It does collapse. The felt one is much nicer, this is the one I have https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D23C117/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It’s really nice, just adds weight to my bag so I don’t carry it very often
Bags are definitely utilitarian only for me. I get by with pockets when I can, but with glasses plus sunglasses, etc. I often need a bag. I have a tiny no-name shoulder bag with just enough room for the essentials. I’ll use that for a couple years until it falls apart and then find another. I just don’t have the energy, or money, for switching between bags, or for name brands.
I am handbag obsessed, and love to read all these posts.
My everyday bags:
Olbrish, Highway handbag, black with red trim - 8 years old
J Hulme, Emerson satchel, black with my monogram - 4 years old
Hester van Eeghan, Barn handbag, black - 1 year old
All the everyday bags are leather, roomy (except the olbrish) and functional. I can use them handheld or with a detachable shoulder strap. They have secure closures. I put them on the floor at a restaurant, on under the seat in front of me when I fly. Then I wipe them off with a disinfectant wipe. They all look new.
The olbrish is too small for my kindle, so has kind of become a party bag in recent years. It’s perfect to hang off my arm while I balance a drink and handshakes/ hugs /kisses.
@alh you have beautiful taste in handbags.
You brought up that situation that I always struggle with at an event where I have my purse yet I’m suppose to mingle and juggle bag, maybe a wrap all the while trying to eat an appetizer and hold a drink. In some cases it’s not feasible to put the bag down somewhere. It also can ruin a look if I put my bag crossbody. How do others deal with this.
On that thought I have a cute suede envelope style flat clutch bag. It doesn’t hold much so I don’t use it when I need to bring my full wallet. It’s always a dilemma as to where to put it and how to hold it during a cocktail hour.
I moved my phone, house keys, and WOC into my kitty shopper today. It is a conversation piece. ?
@mom60 That’s always a problem. If the bag has a handle, I just hook it in the crook of my arm and hold the food and drink in my hands.
