Millsap College, Hofstra University, University of Buffalo, University of Kentucky, University of Denver, Wheaton College, University of Chicago, Seton Hall.
@mtrosemom Just letting you know…Babson College is NOT a LAC. It’s a business school and is highly rated for entrepreneurship.
KU, Wisconsin and MN-TC will not let up. He has shown no interest.
Vanderbilt has so much money!!! Thick and exclusive looking literature arrives at our home like clockwork every month. All because we attended a college fair and visited their booth! Right, they could fund a few more scholarships with this wasted $$$. And kids and parents are well-advised to throw away this kind of mail asap unless the student is interested and confident of getting into these super selective schools. They hope hordes will apply, so they can show how coveted they are, and how kids are thronging their doors to attend. Of course, they earn a ton of money from the application fees too. In reality, wise people should stick to “good-fit” schools and ignore all the “stalkers schools.” At the end of the day, solid, good, common sense always wins over impractical dreams.
@jonri. Even less appropriate for my computer oriented techie son. He get two or three emails a week from them.
Seton Hall
LIU
U of The Arts
Marymount Manhattan
Montclair State
FIU

I haven’t caved. SH & LIU are 50K/60K, I can’t afford that. I’m going to study social work, so U of the Arts, FIU, & MM aren’t a match. Montclair is my first-choice school, but they send me the same booklet weekly!
Also: St. Johns, Qunnipac, La Salle & Pace (never contacted them).
Roanoke College, Wisconsin, Denver, Ohio (although I haven’t had an email in a while)
Tulane for my son mostly because he doesn’t want to go there, and they send a lot of email too. It kind of comes in waves. Lots of LAC’s (also no interest) . Michigan Tech and Michigan have engineering students calling on the phone too, but only about once per week.
So far my stalkers are Rutgers, SUNY Delhi, Michigan State, Utica, and UNH. I did visit UNH but decided it wasn’t exactly for me, so I most likely won’t be applying. I was interested in Rutgers for a short time but I’ve knocked that one off the list as well. Utica might be a rock-bottom safety, Michigan State is way too far from home (I haven’t even considered any schools outside of NY/NJ/PA and New England), and Delhi is too close to home.
I haven’t been “stalked” by schools too much since I’m not enrolled in public high school (home schooled student) and haven’t been enrolled in one since before my last address change. The more schools I visit and websites I sign up for, though, the more emails and snail mail I start receiving from schools. Frankly I find it way too obnoxious and a huge turn off when a potential school of interest practically begs me to apply.
Endicott College just sent me a 225 page BOOK. I’ve never even heard of them!
Georgia Southern, Post University, + the Art Institute are my biggest “stalker schools” and the lattermost is especially so. I almost caved until I found out about what a diploma mill they are.
Columbia College (Chicago) sends me a lot of items since I’ve shown interest and applied to them, but I don’t really think that counts as a “stalker school.”
WUSTL
U of Chicago
Kenyon
TCU
Hofstra
I think it is funny how all the email stopped Nov 1! The mailings have slowed too. Anyone else noticing that?
Uchicago is biggest stalker. No he has not caved.
During the week before EA deadline two frequent postcard-email schools sent big thick envelopes. I presume they were catalogs. My son finished his applications on October 13 so I don’t think he read them. Someone called this morning and spoke to him for a long period about a scholarship interview. I think he’s going to the interview.
No school today because it’s election day and our schools are polling places. Can’t allow the riff raff voters to mix with the students.
A lot of postcards HAVE died off. One came yesterday for a VA school. I started to put it in S16’s pile but it was for D17. It begins…
Columbia is still sending D mail even after ED deadline. She is a STEM girl so a lot from engineering.
Washington U of St. Louis is definitely our champion stalker. It started right after D’s PSAT score came. We’ve never given them the slightest glimmer of interest and it’s probably been an average of once a week for a year or more, from postcards to letters to thick glossy brochures. ,
University of Chicago, Vanderbilt, Washington University St Louis. All are pushing Financial Aid, for which we do not qualify. One sent a brochure that was obviously focused to low income applicants and detailed how to waive the application fee if you are on the free lunch program. I do live in a socially/ethnically diverse zip code.
My D was getting almost weekly email from U Miami, but she did give them her email address.
Emails:
University of Chicago (all about location, location, location)
Dartmouth (telling me to apply)
New England Conservatory of Music (“why music?” nothing about the school)
University of Arizona (about the honors college. no way I’m applying there. too big and doesn’t have what I want)
“Snail Mail”:
Rutgers University - New Brunswick (way too big of a school. as big as my town)
University of Southern California (postcard saying there’s still time to apply)
The funny thing about this is that I’m a sophomore. I’ve received no emails yet from the email I provided on the PSAT. I was already considering Dartmouth, NEC, and UChicago (somewhat), but now know to NOT consider the others on the list. No idea how all of these schools received my email or address. The app. process is insane.
UChicago is unquestionably our top stalker. They do have some gorgeous brochures! Second is probably Ohio Wesleyan.
There are also a few Christian schools that won’t leave us alone no matter what we do. I have no idea why, unless they’re hoping to convert some heathens from MA…
