What Are Your “Stalker Schools” and Have You Caved in To Them?

Uchicago: SO MUCH MAILS.

And so weird essay questions…and the interview was the last straw. I was glad to be not accepted because the interviewer only confirmed i m not fit for this school.

I think the essay questions appeal to the type of students who might fit there, @paul2752. My D liked them (especially compared to other universities) and they were the only essays she enjoyed writing. Something for everyone.

Ding ding ding… University of Chicago! If I had a dollar…
Next University of Colorado - how many times do I have to read “Be Boulder”?
Then there was Boston University. My son had NO interest. He ignored increasingly repeated emails and snail mails. When that didn’t work, they started mailing to me (Mom) directly - a general letter, an honors letter, and when they didn’t work, a brochure on affording BU. They gave up this past fall (senior year).
There are others but these were particularly aggravating.

Vassar hasn’t qualified as a stalker yet, but we have a boy and we all know how much they desire those. But today’s mailer reads VA on one line in large type, followed by SS on the second and AR on the third. I looked at the darn thing three times on the way in from the box before I figured out where it was from.

Not really a stalker story, but in December of 2015 (I’m a senior) I received a huge priority mail package from Hamilton College. I had never received a single email or letter from them, I searched everywhere in my mailbox and I since I was hoarding ever single brochure I’d ever received from a college (I know, I know) I knew which ones had contacted me and which ones hadn’t. So I knew that Hamilton hadn’t shown a penny’s worth of interest in me beforehand. My grades were pretty low for the school, yet the admission office told me in a phone call that my grades were perfectly fine and that I was a really good applicant for them.

So after driving over eight hours to get to their campus, taking the tour in the middle of winter, having an interview, and changing my application to ED2 on spot, I ended up being completely denied and told that I could apply again as a transfer for up to two years. Obviously, I realized that I had been had. But in my defense, this package contained every little bit of Hamilton paraphernalia that they produced. I guess the lack of interest beforehand should have made me realize that they were just worried about the number of applicants and wanted some more people to deny to keep numbers up.

And I was so swept up by the fact that this high ranking school had sent me such a huge package, and didn’t really realize how miserable it would have been to spend four years as a college student in desolate Clinton, New York, so I view it as a dodged bullet, especially since it look like I’m heading to Atlanta for college.

Anyway, just a word of warning, don’t get too complimented by a big package.

RPI and Hult U were the biggest “stalker schools” for me.

U chicago was bad in the beginning, while in the end University of Dayton and University of Kentucky were the worst. University of Dayton just sent an email 2 days ago telling me to apply. I mean its late march I have literally have no interest in going to you!!!

Even as a sophomore, I’ve already received nearly 30 letters, and a couple were from repeat schools… I won’t even get started on emails. University of Pittsburg is the worst, and University of Delaware isn’t far behind. Dartmouth is also a big email spammer.

I got rejected from Providence, even though they sent me things daily in snail mail! :-q

Pace University, York College, & East Stroudsburg University will not leave me alone, even though I’m graduating in two months…

THEY JUST WANT YOUR APPLICATION AND MONEY FOR THEIR STATISTICS

Iowa state. It is great that applications are accepted until May 1 but he has decided. Just stop already!

I’d say COE College, NOVA Southeastern and Augustana were the worst offenders of school D had literally no interest in. Can’t figure out why she never got the Carlton frisbee though–but I think she got several frisbee’s from Augustana.

My D is keeping the pile of mail for fun. The size is ridiculous. And she requested none of it. My favorite stalker is Hollins and the big poster they sent of the top 20 reasons to go there. #2 was that it was a “great place to meet guys.”

Colombia keeps sending me pamphlets

UChicago is a big one. They want to get so many applicants just to reject most of them in order to say they are “extremely selective” Jerk move

Case Western Reserve University and Mercer University are my biggest stalker schools

Loyola University Maryland and Wheaton send me huge things in the mail despite the fact that they are christian colleges and I specifically stated that I am not a christian on my Student Search things. Loyola stopped but I still get them from Wheaton.

I don’t even know for my email anymore, I was getting 15-20 a day and didn’t feel like going through them all and unsubscribing so I made a new email and spammed all I could.

I just looked in my old email and it looks like Kettering, Rice, Case Western, UChicago, and Wheaton (again!) are the major offenders.

I’m actually attending La Salle, which was one of my stalker schools! :))

I recently threw away the pile of snail mail I’ve received during high school. It weighed at least fifteen pounds!

Eastern Nazarene is now harassing me with extra scholarship offers, through daily phone calls and e-mails. They’ve even traced my house number! (I was accepted, but I’d just like to warn everyone of this before they apply).

Mount St. Mary’s University… I’ve been receiving letters from them since my freshman year of high school.

Syracuse and Denver are amazing at stalking as well, at least for me.

I wish I could get stalked by any of the colleges you mentioned.
