What are your top 3 (dream) schools?

Umich (accepted!), Davidson, and Northwestern. : )

For our S 2016 it was Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, and Berkeley

It was Rice, Penn, Duke, but now it’s just Rice

OSU, KSU or OSU-Mansfield

Princeton, Rice, Amherst.

For my kid, it was Stanford. All others, he would have been happy with. He is living his dream due to my wallet. My dream for him would have been Stanford with full financial aid.

Any of the top 20 college with even a partial merit scholarship is a dream college for non financial aid qualifiers.

Vanderbilt, Emory that’s pretty much all for my “dream” schools since I never wanted to go to an ivy and had to cross a lot off the list due to finances. Good luck to everyone who hasn’t heard back from their dream schools yet!

@Siena19 : Odd that you list Vanderbilt & Emory but not Washington University in St. Louis. I usually see those three schools together.

@Publisher I did consider WUSTL, but honestly I didn’t want to live in Missouri. Seems petty, I know, but I figure if I’m committing 4 years and a lot of student debt, I want to be somewhere that I love. Also the application fees were becoming a lot and I didn’t want to pay the $75

UK '91 here! I have to say as a “teenager” (oh so long ago), my dream schools were UK, Pepperdine, and Notre Dame. I ended up getting into my top choice, UK! I tried to avoid politically charged schools. Prestige does not matter as much as political leanings, which may effect my education. I have advised my DD to be weary of any extreme views.

Stanford

Harvard

Cornell

I do like Northwestern.

and Rice, too

My dream college is, without a doubt, Stanford University. However, Stanford is one of the most selective universities in America; therefore, I have other favorites. My second favorite, a more realistic choice, is the University of Miami. By being a legacy and completing their Summer Scholars program, the odds are in my favor. And to end it off, I have always liked the idea of going to a school in California, and since Stanford is not really reliable, I would love to go to USC.

My top three are:

  1. Stanford (by FAR): I love every aspect of Stanford and it’s been my dream to attend it before I even fully understood what college was. The California weather, the academic opportunities, the sports culture, its proximity to Silicon Valley, and the chance to meet and interact with amazing people that attend and work at the school are some parts of the school that I have fallen in love with the most. Its selectivity is one thing that concerns me though, and it’s going to be a stressful time waiting for my admission decision when I apply in 3 years.

  2. Duke…?

  3. Harvard…? (idrk for sure what my 2nd and 3rd dream colleges are coz I’m obsessed with Stanford lol)

@skompella9892 check out University of Santa Clara - not too far from Stanford so you’d get the weather and the proximity to Silicon Valley but it’s definitely easier to get into than Stanford.

Johns Hopkins, Rice, CalTech, CMU type schools deserve dream status as students are really towards schools on their merits, unlike NYU, Ivies, USC where prestige is the main attraction.
