What can I do to impress admission officers?

But a loose handshake will feel like shaking hands with a skeleton to them :stuck_out_tongue: Practice with parents everyday lol xp

Ok! Thanks for the advice.

Unless they’re like a very old fashioned person, squeezing too hard wouldn’t be good.

But no one likes loose shakers.

Might be different for girls though, I’m not sure.

Nope. Girls are held to the same standard with that.

And who likes a weak girl?
Who likes a weak anybody? (ew) :-&

So I’ll aim for a moderate but firm handshake. I hope I don’t look awkward doing it… To be honest, I’ve never given a handshake to anyone. I just wave or hi-five my friends, but imagine doing THAT to an admissions officer! That would be classic. :stuck_out_tongue:
(The most I’ve done is a polite hello to a teacher or an adult. But I don’t think that would be enough for an interview.)

And eye contact! Eye contact during the handshake is important, too.

And a smile. You wanna seem nice and relaxed. Well not seem. You should be nice and relaxed xp

I’m scared that I’m just going to crack from the tension and just start laughing. I do weird things when I get nervous. :P

Honestly I would say don’t try too hard. I know this is wayyyyy easier said than done, considering most of us on here tend to freak out a lot, but it’s crucial to appearing to be the nice, friendly kid you (hopefully) are. I say in the car, before you walk into the admissions office, say to yourself out loud, “it’s just talking about myself. Who knows more about me than me? Nobody. And so I’m going to sell myself. Easy.”
Or something along those lines. Literally I’m just told the officers about what I enjoy doing and added in my own personal side notes that give them clues into who I am, while getting them to want to know more.
Literally, you just want to appear as a normal kid, who does really cool stuff and happens to be pretty smart. If you do that, while also coming off as a curious student who seeks a higher level of learning and I true competitive edge (meaning attaining the work ethic and credentials, which that school would give you).

Basically just be yourself lol. Whether or not you’re serious or quirky, you can always get have a light, simple convo about yourself and the school you’re at.

there were probably so many typos in my comment above lol, but on another note…

KNOW ABOUT THE SCHOOL!!! Don’t be stalker-ish, but ask meaningful questions that show that you’ve really looked into the school, and are curious to know how life there would impact you.

Okay that’s it. Byeeeeeee :)

Thanks for the advice. :)

I hate to sound cliché, but be yourself. I mean that’s really the only to succeed in an interview. Don’t try to be someone you’re not and don’t “make sure” to be genuine, but be genuine.
