What changes have you seen for college athletes and their recruitment during Covid?

That’s why kids and coaches are jumping, if they can.

(Meaning jumping at decent offers and not waiting for a better one to c ome along for players, and mabe scooping up a d1 athlete by a d3 coach)

Must depend on the sport. I’m not seeing that happen at all. I’ve seen only one kid from daughter’s former organization signed up. Coaches are holding still and waiting to see what shakes out. They are making no quick moves and why would they? They can sit back and wait as so many athletes are stuck in recruiting purgatory. They can be patient and wait for things to come to them.

I am sure it does vary by sport. I’m pretty much only familiar with soccer, and those kids/coaches are jumping at opportunities. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if recruiting is behind where it normally is at this time of year.

My brother’s lax league is doing okay this fall. He had no spring season, a very short summer season, and now an okay fall. He actually has more high school teams because football is delayed until the spring. Will he have fewer spring kids because of other sports being moved to the spring? Who knows?

The quarterback from my high school just ‘committed’ to Wisconsin. He had 20+ offers and his acceptance ceremony was on the tv news. I bet he graduates early and starts college in the spring. I don’t think he’ll play hs football if they have it in the spring.
