done! now im reading it again but just the highlighted stuff. i will probably get to WWI and the rest is still pretty fresh in my mind. i started reading it at the beginning of the year when my teacher gave us amsco. i used it more than my textbook, the blurring - i mean enduring vision. that book is horrible!!!

I’m finished.

If I were to get AMSCO right now, and crammed as many hours in each day to reading it, do you think I would finish by May 8?

ThePerson1, Amsco contains 30 chapters. Assuming 3-5 days for shipping, you wouldn’t receive the book until next week, Monday being the earliest. That would give you ~10 days, meaning you must read ~3 chapters per day.

Completing Amsco once is definitely doable, but unless you have an eidetic memory, you won’t remember all the information–especially since you’re cramming it in such a short amount of time.

Since there’s only a short amount of time before the exam, I’d advise against Amsco and advocate Crash Course. The latter is a highly-condensed outline that hits key topics and leaves out the random BS.

Good luck :)

American Pageant is filled with useless garbage that won’t help at all. Reading a prep book like AMSCO or Crash Course will help more.

I second SwaGGeReR’s advice:

I had to order AMSCO and it took forever due to shipping issues, but Crash Course was at my local B&N for $12. People seem to have more luck finding Crash Course than AMSCO at their local bookstores (B&N/Borders usually)

Is crash course different from the main REA book?

I am on chapter 0 right now … I might get the book today. :D

ThePerson1: Yes. Crash Course outlines the information in a more concise way than the main REA book, and the last few chapters of Crash Course contain outline about common themes tested on the AP exam, such as important events in the history of rights for minority groups.

hey guys… I am still on Chap 6…
Would it be possible to study 5 chapters today, 6chapters on saturday and sunday each, and study 3chapters each day after that?
That’s my plan… since I didn’t really get to study alot… I need to cram everything… would you guys advise that ? Or should I just study Crash course?
I want to get at least 4… :(

Anything is possible smile. Tomorrow is the weekend, so there is probably no excuses. I know people who are on Chapter 1 and plan on finishing so do it! Crash Course you probably won’t have time for.

Thanks ,mcvcm92, :)
I thought that Crash Course is short though isn’t it?
Does it have alot of info? or just like an outline?
I know that I can’t memorize everything by just reading AMSCO.
My teacher gave us quizzes since Febuary in REA book, but I don’t even remember half of the stuff that we did!!! Especially the names and acts and stuff like that.
So I just wanted to brush up on quick important facts from Crash Course, like a week before the actual exam…
IDK… How do you guys usually use Crash Course book??

I have never seen Crash Course so idk! Maybe go back and read REA or skim it (idk how long it is). I like your idea, but you will have to devote a lot of time to it, which I def don’t have haha

Don’t worry about being behind. As I mentioned before, I just got AMSCO yesterday and started looking at it today, so we’re in similar situations.

what exactly is the REA book? i’ve never heard of it.
and I’m thinking about just doing the princeton review’s practice tests rather than reading it. would that be helpful?

wow the test is in 2 weeks!! AHH
and my practice test is in 8 days. and i’m on chap 14 in amsco. ■■■.

The REA book is another one of those 100s of review books. I read the one for European history, and it didn’t appeal to me at all because of the extraneous detail and unnecessary information within it. I read the Princeton one instead, and got a 5 on the AP European History test.

The Princeton Review has very good tests - the best that I’ve seen in a review book (this is judging from the European History AP, but since USH and Euro have similar formats, I’m sure that Princeton’s are best than anyone else’s).

Whoooooaaaa I think im effed!!! lol. I studied the Peterson’s AP book in January for the SAT USH and I remember some stuff. Its just 170 pages. I finished 1 chapter now. Im going to study every day for a week. will I have time???

ooh okay is the REA book the same as the crash course book?
i’m not sure if i should get that book if i already have amsco.

Anyone have anything to say about my situation? Im self-studying and I have the peterson’s book.

I’m at WWI in Amsco. I’ve been reading all day.
