<p>No, Freshman are not required to take a language. However, if your major or minor requires a language component, you may want to try to start the language series Freshman year. Generally speaking, the first class in a language is only offered Fall quarter. For example, German 1 & 4 are in Fall, German 2 & 5 are in Winter, and German 3 & 6 are in Spring. But if you’ve taken the language before, you can do an interview to place you in the appropriate level; so you might not have to start languages right away.</p>
<p>kcobap: You can transfer in that AP credit to apply toward your total units needed to graduate (at least 180, no more than 220). Sometimes the AP tests also fill a GE or a University requirement, but it doesn’t seem AP Language tests do.
