What colleges allow freshmen to live off campus?

Actually, at Michigan, even if you ate out every meal it should still be cheaper than a meal plan. But I’ll accept that Michigan is probably an atypical example.

Neither of the Florida flagships, FSU and UF, require freshmen to live on campus. I think schools like University of North Florida have residency requirements because they are trying to change their reputation as a commuter school.

There may be some language in some Wisconsin U’s about living on campus but it didn’t seem difficult to circumvent. The flagship always allowed off campus living, even if there was obscure language to the contrary.
