There are many families out there who refuse to pay for a private univ unless it’s “great”. I know a family that refused to pay for Syracuse, because they didn’t think it was worth it. Their kid went to a just okay OOS public univ. So…even if it’s it’s not right, it’s not unusual. I’ve heard other parents say that they would only pay for what they thought was a tippy top school since their instate public was perfectly fine.
