What cost of attending University is tax deductible?

I hope you did not use the Hope credit the year you graduated from college as it is for first and 2nd year students only. Students beyond their 1st or 2nd year are not eligible to take the Hope tax credit. Lifetime learning credit can be used any year - Hope
cannot.

Most colleges do have some kind of student health insurance. BUT if your family has health insurance through an employer, the college plans are seldom as good. But this DOES work for some students. You just have to make sure that whatever plan you DO use meets your health care needs. In our case, we need to keep kids on our plan as long as possible (or until he has his own plan through an employer) due to some health concerns that our plan covers but other plans might not (e.g. expensive monthly prescriptions, and expensive diagnostic tests and procedures).

Oh, sorry, swimcatsmom – it was the Lifetime Learning credit.

Yes, our insurance works everywhere in US as it is PPO, and I’ve looked into MIT insurance and it seems that our present insurance will be better for our D.
