I love my French door refrgerator with water and ice in the door. Use it all the time. It could only be better if it had crushed ice, too.
I love our ice through the door. Rarely use the water, but the kids did when they were young. Weāve had this one for years using it often and not one single problem (yet). Hope Iām not jinxing it. Iāll never have a fridge again without at least an icemaker. The door part is just an extra bonus.
We had water and ice in the door in the break room at work. The water line stayed frozen so it never worked.
Donāt worry, @Bromfield2 , from what I have heard and read about Samsung appliances, it wonāt last long. LOL Unlike my 29-year-old, almond-colored Kenmore that just wonāt die! I already have its replacement picked out, but donāt want to spend the money until I have to.
When our old fridge was about 10 years old, the water dispenser stopped working. No biggie - we still had good use of ice maker. When about 17 years old, the water started leaking - NOT good! We still opted to replace it with fridge with water/ice.
@Singswimsew my French door has water and ice through the doorā¦and choice of the small cubes or crushed ice. Want it? Itās a GE Profile and I canāt stand it. Hoping it dies soon, but with enough warning to move the freezer stuff out.
Disliking blackness at night is NOT weird.
Pedestal sinks are good for small spaces. What bugs me is the trend for tubs and vanities with space around and under them- dust/dirt accumulates and means more , and difficult to clean surfaces.
Ice/water in the door is a must here in Tampa. I canāt believe how warm the ācoldā water is- 70ās, not 50ās like up north. Keeping a water container in the refrigerator- who gets to do the work of refilling it when it runs outā¦
Who cares what is trendy, fashionable or whatever other term is out there. A home is where you live, not a place you constantly are showing off or ready to sell. Besides, as we age we have tastes appropriate to our demographic.
Count me in as another who doesnāt like the French door refrigerators. I have a built in paneled Sub Zero which is 30 years old and still kicking. It will be replaced as soon as I remodel the kitchen (soon). I was in an Air BnB that had a French door and the alarm was constantly going off. Just never got both doors to shut correctly. Also, I really donāt like the look of ice and water in the door.
I hate the ice in the door refrigerators. IT"S SO LOUD!
I love my Sub Zero, frig on the top, freezer on the bottom. We had a 24 hour electrical outage last week. My frozen food stayed frozen. My milk was not spoiled. They are well insulated and my previous Sub Zero lasted 24 years!
Made in Wisconsin, too, IIRC.
Next weekend weāll be seeing what our rental house looks like inside and what we want to do to list it for sale. Around here Iām told thereās not much in stock for appliances and assorted other things. People supposedly should be happy with whatever they find (news report). That could make decision making easier I suppose.
Hopefully it wonāt need much. I wonder if paint and flooring are also in short supply. The tenants have been in there for years so Iām expecting those need to be done at a minimum just from normal wear and tear.
The realtor says they are still busy and need more houses on the market. When we see the place in person (with her) weāll also see what she thinks about selling it as is (aside from any actual repairs that might be needed) and letting the buyers figure out what they want.
Or we always have the option to re-rent it. Weāve had calls about that already too.
I think the worst thing about the house is one of the neighbors. He has all sorts of religious and political signs everywhere in his front yard - along with caution tape blocking the stairs to his front door. We watched him remove it to go check his mail and put it back when he returned, so it isnāt due to fixing the steps or something.
I gather he wants to be left alone. Tenants tell me heās harmless, but the look sure isnāt anything that would appeal to me if I were looking. It amazes me that he gets away with it legally. That area is fairly strict with whatās allowed and what isnāt - or at least I thought they were. We got a notice once when a tenant tried to change the color of the outdoor light!
Iāve heard that pressure treated lumber is in short supply. We are thinking of redoing our deck, not until next year. But we were told that you can not get pressure treated lumber, itās just not available. We are thinking composite anyways.
I did ask this question on another thread, but since I need the answer fairly soon, Iāll post again here.
The painter on our remodel project will need my paint choices in about 10 days. He asked me if I wanted to go with flat paint for walls or eggshell. I have no idea. He says flat seems to be more popular in new builds, but that eggshell is easier to maintain/clean.
Any thoughts or strong preferences?
I strongly prefer eggshell or satin for cleanability.
I put flat on ceilings, but eggshell on walls.
I agree with @mathmom. Flat on the ceilings and eggshell on the walls.
I have always preferred flat on walls, even in the bathroom, satin on trim, semigloss on doors.
I use flat in areas I wonāt have need to touch/clean often - like the back of bookshelves. But otherwise probably eggshell.
What brand of paint do you use? Could you go in that store and see any examples (more than a paint strip) they may have?
It might also depend on the lighting, I have a home that gets a ton of natural sunlight and used flat because I donāt want any shine. Itās fine, even with grandkids.
Same as @mathmom
Eggshell all the way.
We had the entire house painted last winter. Just checked the cans for all rooms but bathrooms. Eggshell on walls, satin on trim, flat on ceilings.
