What did you do for your kiddo's college graduation?

Mine graduated early (in March). Because she saved us several thousand dollars, I bought her a plane ticket to South America and an iPad mini. She was in Machu Picchu yesterday (on MY bucket list, but it was AWESOME to see her photos from there- the Andes must have wifi, who knew?). After she gets back in May, she’ll walk in the graduation ceremony (we live an hour’s drive from her U) and then drive up to the Bay area to start her job. I’m not planning any party- she doesn’t want one-maybe someone else in the neighborhood will throw one. I’ll just be thrilled to see her graduate.

07DAD, you made me cry. What a sweet gift.

My whole family came to the ceremony then we went and had lunch at one of Guy Fieri’s restaurants. Then we just hung around in my apartment packing up and moving my stuff out. The next day my parents let me go around campus saying goodbye to all my friends and then we drove back to SoCal (while I cried in the passenger seat).

It was really nice for me that my parents just let me do what I wanted/needed to do. There was no pressure to do what my family wanted or anything.

My gift was my parents helping me get ready to move to grad school this past July and then driving me out to Indiana. :)

My D graduated from undergrad midyear so did not attend the grad ceremony. She is graduating from medical school in May, so we will celebrate!

Almost all the family is coming from several states, including her grandma. The graduation ceremony is in the morning, and my H and I are hosting a family dinner that night at a wonderful seafood restaurant.

We are buying her new tires for her car and an iPad, plus a new dress to wear for graduation. Her aunt and uncle are buying her a “doctor bag” of her choice, a very stylish red leather Coach tote bag. Her grandma is giving her an heirloom pearl newly set as a necklace.

I wish I could think of some small, more meaningful keepsake gift for her just from me.

Bookiemom. How exciting!

After graduation, we went back to the kids’ apartment, did a little cleaning and drove home.
