<p>They look for kids who are extremely well-rounded or extremely good at one thing. This means you need to be a starter on a varsity sports team as well as a dedicated political volunteer or something or a nationally recognized pianist/robot-builder/etc. And you need to have flawless, stellar grades, standardized test scores, and recommendations. And you need luck; it’s a crap shoot.</p>
