<p>These classes won’t hurt you at all. </p>
<p>I can’t speak to the claim of “unfair and ridiculous.” These remedial classes are in place so you don’t take a math class and fail it or do poorly. If you scored a 41 on the Accuplacer I imagine you really need to beef up you math skills.</p>
<p>You can’t get out of taking these classes unless you either don’t go to the community college or you convince a counselor to waive them for you. The latter will take a lot of convincing though…</p>
<p>If you take these classes and then take your required math classes in an accelerated format perhaps you can get back on schedule. Or, if you feel you are up to it do self study and see if you can CLEP the College Algebra. A passing CLEP score and the ensuing credit from it should be more than enough to get a waiver…</p>
