What do moms really want for Mother's Day?

^^^msmayor, that is the best Mother’s Day ever! Very happy for you.

Have already decided that next year I will go visit my own mom and my kids can fend for themselves. 'nuff said.

D surprised me with a visit home today!! (from her school, 5 hours away). She and H planned it all out. Really didn’t expect to see her and was a little sad since she’s off to London next week…

A great day, with both S and D (who managed to get along famously for the day), H, and my mom. Filets on the grill…sunshine…does it get any better??  :)

It’s not the “stuff” that we want…

I got professional pics of my kids for Christmas and loved that!

Today, from the hubs, I want to best pillows and the television remote.

Today has been awesome. I got my usual breakfast in bed. To my surprise, my well-meaning dh called my college freshman at 8:30 to Skype with me during breakfast. I told ds that that was cruel and unusual punishment for a college freshman and to call me later, which he did at 12:15. I have spent most of the day in bed, watching the morning news shows, then PBS fare with ds2 then a nap and now the unexpected gift of a Lakers sweep.

It’s really about the time spent, not the money spent.

I got the best present this morning: a wonderful laugh-so-hard-I-cried laugh, courtesy of 16 year old DD’s homemade card. (Back story is that she and I bond over watching bad TV together: ANTM, Teen Mom, etc.) The outside of her card said “I was going to make a lovely, mushy card about how wonderful you are …” I opened it up, and there was a picture of Jennelle’s mom from Teen Mom 2. I didn’t have to read another word, just burst out laughing. When the laughter tears cleared, I was able to read the rest: “But then I realized everything could be summed up by saying … [PHOTO]. Thank you for being the antithesis of this mom.”
If you watch, or know about this show, you will so recognize that as a wonderful compliment. Flowers? Pshah! This is a keeper, for sure.

My older child (she of the DUI) sent me a text that said, “Happy Mother’s Day! Best mom.” My younger child gave me a mix CD she made; I had to ask her if I had expressed out loud my desire for one, and I hadn’t, and so she read my mind! My kids are wonderful, problems and all.

Not supposed to link it, but if you google “biologist’s mother’s day song” you’ll see what my daughter sent me today.

Just an FY’, You can now link Youtube!

(unless it’s inappropriate…)…

Performersmom - you reminded me of a little note I keep pinned to my bulletin board. It’s written on a tiny post-it only about an inch-and-a-half square and it says, “Roses are red, violits are rom, I am sher glad that you are my MOM.” It is one of my most prized possessions.

Both sons are in college away, I miss them. S2 sent a card timed to arrive Saturday. It was so funny I truly laughed out loud. On the front, a picture of a child on the toilet in a 50s-era orange bathroom, smiling. The text read “Hey Mom! Thanks for teaching me so many wonderful things over the years.” Inside, the text was “Especially that potty training thing! I can’t tell you how many times that has come in handy.” He called the next day to wish me happy mother’s day, so I was doubly blessed - a card and a call! Wow!

S1 called early Sunday morning and we ended up on skype for a nice long chat. Seeing how happy he is at college warms my heart.

DH cut two gorgeous roses from our garden and placed them on my desk in small vases, one for each son.

Truly a wonderful day.

That is cute^^
